The mercs don’t fit the character of mercenaries. They fight for two sides that pay basically the same, in mysterious “credits” you can only use to buy cards that dictate what weapons you can use in any mission, and who are so whimsical that after 10 minutes of an operation declare “this is taking too long, mission is a failure” like spoiled brats who got bored of their toys. Let’s not even get into having access to air strikes and orbital satellites, but never using that on the single chopper that comes do any pick up.
Meanwhile the whole female cast is made of over-covered hot young women that, aside from Nader, are likely too young to have combat experience with one gun, let alone all available in all loadouts. Yet here they are. All of them coincidentally being “not part of those women” who enjoy flaunting their appearance is just a bullshit excuse and I’m pretty sure you know that.
Finally, about it not fitting the general art style, neither Turtle or the upcoming Phantom Obsidians fit with the rest either, so if anything they are open for the style to change and evolve over into different themes.
In decisions regarding gameplay, the only thing that should be considered, is what is better to play. So the same mercs on both sides is, or 15 minute matches, etc. are not e viable argument about lore. (Why not complain then about playing the same missions over and over again? Is Jackal completely retarded to steal the same cores millions of times?) They could’ve implemented different mercs to the opposing sides with different characters but the exact same combat stats, but that would be almost twice the work, and it’s totally not worth that amount of effort.
Nobody in this entire game is over-covered. It’s not f*cking Miami beach, it’s an irradiated war-zone! Wouldn’t you wear as much protective gear as possible in a similar situation?
About everyone being sexy: Why wouldn’t they be? Y’know killing people requires much effort, so weak or fat people are not going to be good at it. It just happens that western beauty standard is to be fit. And there is no reason put in the effort to make them look realistic, but facially unattractive (from a dev perspective)
I have absolutely no idea, what your problem is with Turtle, and yes, the Obsidian Operative skins have a rather Cyber-Punk feeling to them. They look cool, and does not break immersion for me (for other people it might), and they fit with each other. As I said, I wouldn’t mind, if some more revealing skins were implemented, if done correctly, but it certainly would break immersion for lots of people, and that’s why I’m saying, we need to be very careful about it.
