Petition: Weekly Update From Splash Damage

I would love a weekly update of some sort, it’s getting tiring checking SD’s twitter and scanning this site every time I log on to my computer to see if the DLC is even coming this month. I was patient when the game launched with unplayable lag, I was patient when the DLC was supposed to launch in early june, I was patient when it was pushed back to the end of june, and I was patient when it got pushed to early july… now it’s early July and the only twitter posts in the last week are about quakecon and the UK steam store.

At this point I’m beginning to think that the DLC isn’t coming this month either.

I rather see a weekly elaborated “When it’s done” than nothing at all. More like a teaser post.

I would be nice but… if you don’t have any news to give then speculating only gets you into more trouble with the community it seems. Just look at the DLC… it was only pencilled in for June then people started going crazy when it didn’t show. It’s so easy to back yourself into a corner it seems so it’s best staying shut.

I would also be coy about the specific release date from a marketing perspective. When it is released it will get covered in all the gaming press (IGN, joystiq, etc), but if you telegraphed the exact date a month in advance, you’re giving your competitors a chance to counter your momentum (e.g. a double or triple XP weekend from Blops, KZ, etc). why let everyone know the exact date? (i’m as anxious as anyone, btw…)

there’s a huge difference between telling people when you think the dlc/patch/game will launch like it’s almost a set date… and giving a weekly update.

Like saying exactly when the DLC was put in for revisions by sony/MS, how long it took last time they submitted something, IF it’s even submitted, or commenting that one of the 2 is done or they are still deliberating.

There is simply a huge difference between speculating on a release date, and letting the community know facts of what’s going on once a week… especially since they projected the dlc to hit a month ago.

It seemed to have worked pretty well for Bungie. They don’t have to just talk about DLC, or upcoming content. They can announce contests, highlight cool community sites, etc.

I really have the feeling the dlc isn’t coming this month, if it was they would have a clear date. Also the lack of promoting of the dlc gives me the impression that SD just want to get it out and be done with it. I don’t mind waiting, but it’s bullocks they can’t give us a date. They probably know but just won’t tell it.
