If a game effectively integrates “social” features like VoIP and visible chat boxes then slot count should be left to the discretion of the particular server host; ideally in most cases a clan catering to their own interests. An important part of the give and take between dev and player that makes titles fun and IMO extends any game’s life is letting the player run his server as he sees fit. If the game “as is” is truly amazing then it will also be played as such by the community.

I promised you know who I’d not slam bc2 anymore so I can’t use the easy fault finding there to underscore good points about servers.
