(Seanza) #201

Heard a rumour that it’ll be soon™!

Teamwork Is The Name Of The Game In Splash Damage’s Extraction

(BomBaKlaK) #203

Wedgwood teases one may even use the SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) navigation system introduced in Brink.

really ? some comments about this ?

(iwound) #204

he probably hinted at better movement.
but i would steer clear of using that acronym.

better to describe the individual movement mechanics rather than a buzzword thats already stained.

(Kl3ppy) #205

SMART was the Brink Killer for me. If SMART is introduced, I may consider sending Locki an email.

(.FROST.) #206

I was also a bit irritated(in a good way). Yet I’d have nothing against a “clean”* implementation of such a system. And don’t forget guys, this time they wouldn’t have to consider the limited amount of buttons of any of the console pads. And they’d also have a lot more experience this time around.

*seperate SMART/Parcour/free running button

Something like the below can’t be wrong, now can it?

(Seiniyta) #207

People inmeadiatly assume that SD would just copy paste the SMART system from Brink 1:1. And if you read online many people actually found the SMART system in Brink the highlight of the game. It would be foolish not to implement it for some characters. I for one would love to have such characters in place. I wouldn’t mind having a character that can wallrun a few meters before jumping to another wall. That would be badass.

(.FROST.) #208

Same goes for me, I loved SMART. In the end I was so used to it, that its downsides weren’t a big problem for me anymore. But going back, after I’ve played so much XT, I can clearly see why some people were so annoyed by that, not so well implemented, core-feature of the game.

Locki interview.

and Locki talks about SDK and how he really, really wants it. \o/
starts at 35:18

Added that video to my watch later. Interested to hear Paul’s views on that SDK especially since Anti (or somebody else) said it would take upteen man-months for it to be created.

(RasteRayzeR) #211

Watched the video with Locki and Dazzler behind him and OMG : Dazzler is Locki !!!

Same glasses : check
Same beards : check
Same nose : almost check
Same features : almost check !

(iwound) #212

Sounds about right. The more working on it, the quicker it will be be and more expensive.
Thats a lorra mula for no direct payoff. the payoff being long term player retention.
i expect they need to start making money before a re-investment.
and if theyre a bit short use crowd sourcing.

(.Chris.) #213

Great start to the interview, “We’re here with Paul from, erm Splash… Damage I think, or, yeah?”

Nothing really we haven’t heard before on the SDK front though, hopefully they can work something out.

Lol, that was the first thing I’ve noticed, when I played Extraction for the first time(12.12.12). Didn’t you guys knew how he looked, just from the Brink promo vids alone? I probably watched each of those at least 5 times, some maybe even 25 times, no kidding.

PS: I’m not the Fashion-Police, but it appears as if he had lost a couple pounds in the meantime. Extraction=exhausting

Aye, but I just like to hear what the situation is from everybody’s perspective. SDK doesn’t necessarily ensure longevity either, so who knows if we’ll ever see it.

(iwound) #216

just the locki interview.

The SD team @ PAX 2013.

(rookie1) #217

I saw some Pics of the SD arrival at Pax (Before and after set up) with all the unpacked crates .must had been lots of work stting up all these and all the wires  …Very nicely finished …and all posters made lots of organisation planned before GJ SD and Nexus
interviews : Very encouraging responses from public it seems that side is a Win
in interviews one thing that public said a lot is polish game …Nice !
What scare me a lot from the SD devs is that they use the term Data cores more to often, its scare me that objectives will be much about DataCores most of the time …need realy more diversity guys
overall PAX I think was a big success

(Seiniyta) #218

Since the build of Pax wasn’t rolled in to the normal alpha version last week I assume it’s going to happen this week now?

Edit: Well, I didn’t expect it to come Today :stuck_out_tongue:

(rookie1) #219

I would have to check but I think we were in pre Alpha in November 2012 x-11-2012

(Mustang) #220

Correct, it was November 2012.
