Make an effort on player retention
Very helpful indeed.
One crucial thing that needs to change is balance. They need to get a proper balance. Even with that small playerbase.
When I complained about the horrendous balance years ago, the answer was: “Wait for CMM, it’ll fix everything”
Now it’s here and the same people say: “CMM cannot fix anthing with a small playerbase”
And I ask myself: If SD knows their playerbase is small, why making a CMM that would only benefit from a big playerbase?
Newbs come to the game, get stomped, and leave.
Newbs do not want to wait for their luck when the game will have enough players. They see the balance is shit, they do not stick with the game.
Then add the things everyone wanted like trading and personal rotations.
Enable private matches and make them have non-retarded requirement. Make the host host a dedicated server. CoD gets away with this in 60$ games. It’s not that hard.
And stop cutting features because you didn’t know how to improve them properly (OBJ in server browser)
For people who think there will be an official release some time: get real. This game will stay in beta forever. It’s just another software model. They can tweak, change, add, remove all kinds of functionality and refer to “BETA!” as an excuse.
DB is not the only game who works like that. There are a lot of F2P games with the same approach. It’s not necessarily a bad approach, but it helps if you’re aware of it.

Example? A lot of examples?
SD can’t
Player are trash, they can’t improve or avoid to get better, vote shuffle spam, and delete DB after level 5 because they are trash, true story.

I’m real, now what ?
there’s a difference between a “Beta” and a “Live game”
prove your statement
edit:
btw OP, “we” that’s hilarious, you a coder ?
Give us TDM?
Idk, I just think sometimes people just wanna shoot things

Wouldn’t a zombie horde mode be better suited for that?

No, cause that’d make literally no sense, and I am tired of zombies.

Maybe that headquarters mode I mentioned before?
I agree, but it doesn’t seem like a popular opinion to hold for this game. Execution filled that void for me while still being somewhat objective oriented. I do think deathmatch or 1v1 has a place in every game for sure, for no reason other than that’s how people start playing when they’re bored or ticked off in the first place. It’s like an inherent primal switch that flips in people. ‘Forget the objective, I’m only gonna kill so-and-so.’ Sometimes you just get sick of your team and doing the same ol’ stuff over and over too. Execution was a no bs, your gun skill vs my gun skill mode. Plenty of time to talk between rounds, go grab a drink or take a piss, come back and get your fix of killing. It was great and I could sound bitter about it all day. Hah. So yeah, any kind of alternative deathmatch mode is good in my books, regardless of game. CTF could work for DB, too. It’s essentially already what delivering the detonator is.
Would be nice if they just didn’t remove Execution mode. It is not everyone prefered mode but it is a change compaired to just Stopwatch all the time. Mayb just don’t make so you force people to do Execution mode with the challanges. This way people that like the mode can still play them and those that don’t are not forced into them because they want that precious credits.
Do a lot more frequent merc tweaks to optimize the game balance. Not just go from overpowered to nearly useless in one patch. Weekly updates to fine tune mercs with very small changes wouldn’t harm the game so much, in the end it is still in Beta.
Focus more on the optimizing and tweaking the good things they currently have instead of adding more and pile up more problems.
Make it so players below level 7 can only play on max lvl6 servers. This way they don’t get thrown into the games with 100+ hours and don’t enjoy their first experience of the game while they still learning the mercs - maps - movements etc. Or at least add a option that is default off to join level 6+ servers and warns the players they are joining a game with higher lvl players.
Make cards above bronze abit more common. I’m aware it is a free game but getting 2 boxes in 2hours and then just get lead cards over and over doesn’t really feel rewarding. For me after 570hours i’ve maybe had 2 gold and 0 cobalt cards.
Remove the gold cost to craft cards and let it cost fragments only, or at least lower the cost a lot more. This way people will spend gold on boxes, have a chance on decent card if not they can destroy it and get fragments to eventually craft the quality they want. Spending 50k for a random cobalt card is crazy, surely if you can just get a merc for that money and have more content.
Give the player more options to customize their mercs. It is a F2P game and what do they do best? Yes sell merc skins / weapon camo etc. This will let the players feel abit more unique then running around the same as everyone on the field with a bronze card. The new merc cards are getting there to be unique but should be a bit more common.
Now with the amount of regions that DB covers. We should head more towards limiting ping inside games. Surely for random queue where you suddenly end up in a other region and you have 200+ ping. So you have to leave and search another server and wasted precious time you could be enjoying the game. This is also a very bad first impression for new players that don’t know about the server filtering etc.
Keep the community a lot more up-to-date what SD is planning, going to do and might come up in the future. Now we get weekly video saying the same what the currently bad things are in the game but eventually noting get done about those issues what makes those videos completely useless.
hold small competative events to get the attention of older players or even new players back into the game. It is common that people like to play together with other people. But there is no reason to do so in DB unless you just friends etc and want to play a shooter. Reward maybe just some old unique event cards or even design new once for the top 3.

I got my first Cobalt drop after 800 hours (or so), and then it was a duplicate of an event card. If you really want a certain Cobalt, forget drops. Instead, pile up credits, convert cards to fragments and wait for the next crafting week.
IMHO the current system with easy to get Bronze cards and difficult/expensive to get vanity cards is fine (albeit annoying). I’d rather have DB being a financial stable game that sticks around for a long time to come than plenty of vanity loadouts I can only see myself on the pregame screen while the game goes the way of the Dodo.
