i’ve always used voip for multiplayer games, but don’t really prefer it. if the game has comprehensive v commands i use those instead, but voip when the commands don’t cut it.

i would find it sort of strange if brink didn’t have voip in-game.

Brink has VOIP, on PCs it’s off by default

(ClickClickBOOM) #23

for a good reason (:

Wouldn’t it be better if its on by default? Just have a global mute button and a mute specific users list.

Hmm, tell the enemy class by glove colour? I dunno, I hope that works anyway.

The gloves seem to be more for the player to identify himself, like if he forgets what class he is. The players also have backpacks, which probably differ between classes.

Yes some people have issues using voip, (e.g. speech impediment) but even someone with that issue will benefit from “dude123, behind you”. If it’s in game and on by default that is.

So it has to be on by default, for the above example to benefit someone? So turning it on in the options menu won’t result in the same benefits as it already being on by default? That’s news to me…

Why’s the voip default setting such a big deal? Or rather why aren’t FF off, player level restriction, and ability restriction default settings? They all function the same way, if you use the matchmaking/quickplay game mode you get vanilla settings, if you want different settings go to the server browser and set up your filters however you want.

(Nail) #27

actually FF is off by default as well, something I disagree with

(H0RSE) #28

Again, whats the problem? If you want it on, you’re going to search for servers that have it enabled, so I really see no hassle whatsoever.

FF off is the current trend of multiplayer games.

A) People can be retarded and can’t aim, so it makes it easier to noobs
B) Stops fkn griefers from being idiots.

I’m indifferent either way.

(Killgar) #30

Yea, FF off, VOIP off, player level restrictions, and no ability restrictions = vanilla through the matchmaker. If you don’t wanna play that way, open the server browser and select your filters…you were going to anyway right?

(Nail) #31

FF on makes you think, helps conserve ammo
but I must admit it fixes one grief

if I play, it’ll be LAN (no filters needed) or one of our site’s servers that’ll get switched over if there’s the demand
