No PC gameplay footage :(

^ lol?

I don’t think that’s a real concern in marketing. Ads always show max graphics with the best edited gameplay clips or even cinematics. It doesn’t matter that that might not represent what the consumer will be playing.

this car analogy just makes me laugh, who here tried out their fridge before they bought it, or stove, toaster, BBQ, kettle ?
or did you try out that last $250 vid card, or buy it because of a review ?

just more entitlement issues

(Shackahn) #23

Like all analogies it is not supposed to be taken too literally. I was just saying that the reason we would like some mouse & kb feedback is that an FPS lives or dies on it’s ‘feel’ and as we are not being given the chance to try the game before launch the least we can have is someone else telling us what they think. Not much to ask now is it?

To me it seems SD can spend all its time convincing the PC market that it has everything that they want, even though in truth the majority of PC gamers are likely to dabble with Brink anyway. Or they can try and drum up some support for the consoles, something they havent ventured into before to the same extent they are doing with brink. Which lets not forget is a brand new IP.

My take is that if the PC gamers that have played the PS3/Xbox versions have all said that it was a great experience, then there is no reason why that wont be the case on PC. After all this is SD, they have a high pedigree on the PC

I was talking about about a car review not test drive. Do you see?

In regard to entitlement issues - I do not feel entitled to anything. I am just pointing out that if a company wants me to buy something I want to know it does what it says on the tin. As we have no demo or access to the game before release we can ask for some video footage without others getting all worked up about it.

If all you questions about the game have been answered then I am happy for you. Now please step aside and let others ask theirs so we can all be happy.

The lack of it?

Well, they don’t. Huzzah for the dedicated server FAQ, but where’s the gameplay?

(trollface) #26

I find it hard to believe people would go “oh no this looks too good” by looking at a high res screenshot.

Edit- What i meant to say is, the minimum - recommended specs takes care of the speculation bit.

Also, i personally believe the resons for no PC gameplay vids are simple. PC players are not the biggest market, yet we complain louder than all others. And while these complaints are often justified with regards to how things used to be (in terms of end user control), things have changed. Multiplatform game developers worry least about PC gamers and what we think.

(BioSnark) #27

That is not a universal opinion. That, in itself, should not be any cause for undue alarm because people have different opinions of what makes a good game, regardless of the platform. It also shouldn’t be something you’re ignoring in your argument.

(ClickClickBOOM) #28

The lack of kb+m is really disturbing and it smells more and more fishy for me. All we have seen is console gameplay. Of course SD wants to attract console gamers but they dont seem to care about PC players at ALL.
Well I guess Brink will be just another of many letdowns in the last years.

happens all the time, happened with Quake Wars, no one believed the shots weren’t photoshopped

Yet they still happily mixed in-game footage with pre-rendered cinematic footage in that new television advertisement.

Really you’re just making things up here.

I keep wondering how much of that is ‘true’ in game footage as the graphics in the latest batch of tutorial videos released look nothing like the cut scenes or the player customisation.

do you seriously think Splash Damage made that commercial ?

I always thought the Publisher handled marketing

(Mustkunstn1k) #33

Yeah, I doubt they worked on it. Although it doesn’t look to be the work of Blur, isn’t high quality enough, atleast that’s how it seemed to me.

Because for the same car, to continue on the analogy (and to make a true one in the meantime…), if its a manual or an automatic you dont have the same feelings at all, well its the same for KB+M vs Controloer, is that this hard to grasp?

And even if we get out of this pesky argument, no demo, no beta and nothing to show for the PC crowd is simply not good when you expect the PC gamers to buy your product. Many allready went all sheep and preordered anyway, so why would they bother?

I agree with you on this point tho, if you arent sure about the game dont preorder it, plain and simple!

Erm  I do…

Peace
happens all the time, happened with Quake Wars, no one believed the shots weren’t photoshopped
We’re not talking “too good looking” in regards to wether or not people think screens are ingame, but rather; do they think they can run the game?

I don’t think people decide from screens wether or not their game can run it, but from system specifications.

Maybe the PC videos would look so good that they’d put the 360 and ps3 to shame and then they’d have a bunch of console players whining instead? Hey we gotta stay positive.
