no lightmap stage..

(Lil Killa) #21

OK I was typing in a reply to this message an I copied my shadelist.txt into the reply window and it apeared normaly… I think notepad was screwing it up. (getting to that part)

What I meant by that is that when I was ussing notepad and I edited my shaderlist.txt I got an error when I tried to compile… Now that I can edit my shaderlst.txt (thought I had it in there before anyway as I updated it before I instaled new GTK) I will add shader name and do a compile. Hopefully this will fix it… maybe not…

EDIT:

OK I added cath to the shaderlist.txt but I got the same eror I was getting before…

ERROR*
Line 61 is incomplete

I found the error that was stoping compile…

I didn’t have all of my parameters for my sun in my sky shader… Doing a compile now to see if shader will work.

EDIT:

OK I compiled with a lamp that had a the shader part made out of a patch and one witha brush and nodraw. The lamp with the brush casts shadows but the lamp made with the patch doesn’t… Is there some specil compile option or shader I can use to make the patch cast a shadow with the shader?

Thx,
LK

did the lamp with the brush cast alpha shadows how you wanted? …or was the shadows solid as if the alpha channel wasn`t working?

and if your not using it, try the light compile option -patchshadows

-patchshadows sounds like it might fix it… if you can post
screenshots of what it looks like, it will help

btw, you might wana use the new penumbra effect ydnar has coded
into the more recent q3map2’s… it will make your shadows look
more realistic… those shots in the sample you show look good,
but IMO the shadows cast are too defined and unrealistic, using the
penumbra effect, you could get them looking much better.
