The free mercs from tutorial should have really been a medic/engy.
No engineer rotation
It’s fortunate that we’re in a beta and this can easily be fixed! Actually, the problem with engineer/medic is that they’d both lack a generic M4.
Gonna say it again… the problem is the lackluster objectives where all of them require an engineer!
That’s a problem. Given that players are only taking limited classes, it could just mean the next thread is titled “no soldier rotation.”
It’s not engineer simulator in the end. Plenty of people do play Engineer roles plus you can do all things engineers can, just slightly slower. Saying ‘an objective based game needs a free engineer by default’ is like saying ‘well its an FPS so all the classes need to be free because they shoot things’. ‘Buy it then noob’ is the best counterargument there is. Also this means that in your mind for example medics are apparently less valuable ingame than engineers are, but the game is also team based and medics are key team roles, should those be ‘available by default’ aswell? The best part is if your logic is ‘its an objective based game thus you need engineer’ but you didn’t get the engineer mercs first when you had the credits, seems like you didn’t think your credit spending through all that well either. If there were no Engineer classes available AT ALL, which I guess is what you Rhino+Thunder comment is meant to imply, it would be a different story as they simply can’t be accessed. Since they are in the game and accessible it’s simply you didn’t think your credit spending through so yes deal with it until you have credits/money again.
In public, people are going to play whatever mercs they want regardless of what other people want. That’s why it’s public. if you want organized play get friends to play MM with or get a team. People in CSGO play the most retarded weapons and gamestyles in public aswell, are you going to complain on their forums too that people don’t play how you want them to?
Bottom line; if you do not always have acces to all archetypes, the game is p2w! This is not about ‘other people’, or ‘acting responsible’ and/or ‘behaving in your best self interest.’ It’s about the game being fair.
I dunno, I don’t find engineers that critical since everyone can plant and disarm. Sure, eng are faster at it, but it’s not really game breaking in that regard. I’ve played on plenty of teams with no engineer and the team still won. I get what you’re saying about it being a little asstastic, but it’s not like you can’t win without them.
I don’t know about that. Non-engineers probably repair the EV by hitting the hood with a hammer and hoping something will be knocked into place. Other objectives are more manageable.
this is a closed freakin beta, you better know wtf is going on or you’re just an early access whiner waiting for the Whaaaaaaaambulance
all the people who CHOSE NOT TO unlock Proxy after playing her for a week are now telling SD to make sure their squads are relevant with free mercs
good thing you guys don’t have to hunt for your food, you’d never figure out where sandwiches lived
It adversely affects the game if few people can restart the EV when it stops in a kill box.
(I play proxy pretty much all the time.)
What are you even talking about? Aura is available by default, you know… And it’s a medic class, isn’t it? The most productive medic class, to be more specific. You’re contradicting yourself, but that’s exactly what I expected.
So I see you still don’t understand anything. I never mentioned anywhere I didn’t buy an engi class first. I’m obviously talking about gameplay in general, yet you refer to me in person.
So why are the 2 starting mercs and rotation mercs forced? And, before you answer, why can’t any engi class be forced the same way?
Just make the two free mercs either “Aura and Bushwhacker” or “Sawbonez and Proxy”, done.
The fact that you call Aura the most productive medic class is enough for me to stop discussing with you…
Ah yes, many players complain about it being overpowered for completely no reason and Sawbonez + non-existent so far Phoenix are better because… (???) But no worries, I’ll take it as “I have no more arguments”.
To be fair, phoenix can res himself, can’t he? That’s a pretty friggin awesome ability. When he was available he was the only medic I played because of that. In addition to the obvious tactical advantages of such an ability, it also made playing a medic less frustrating because often, even if you got killed giving someone a res, you could still get back up(assuming they didn’t finish you off, which often players will not do in a heated situation).
I do agree that aura can be a real pain to kill because of that station of hers though. I’ve often thought it might be nice for that to only work on teammates and not on aura herself. I think that would balance it nicely although I’m sure a lot of ppl would disagree with that. As for sawbones, that is the medic I like to play because he’s more mobile with his health packs, and I’ve noticed other ppl playing him more lately for that reason as well. Although I do think it’s kinda ass that his med packs take a minute to heal you while aura’s station immediately does so. I would prefer that sawbones packs immediately healed you but gave you less health than having to wait for them to start working, then wait for the health to build back on top of it. But anyways, there’s something of an answer.
Are you gonna whine if no one on your team has a Rhino to combat an enemy Rhino that’s mowing your team down? How about if you all went engi/cov/assault and there’s no medics but the enemy team has a couple keeping their team alive? That’s the luck of the draw and the beauty of an open system… don’t whine and bitch because the cards never fell in your favour and you know damn well that every map needs an engineer. If you run a loadout that doesn’t contain an engi in the roster then you know you’re running the risk of joining a team exactly like your own load out, it’s a conscious decision that YOU are making. Play with the hand you’re dealt and stop blaming the game for your poor choice.
