That’s 3 mercs, and 3 new weapons at least.
Now, I love that they’re adding more content, new mercs are great too, but aren’t mercs better as something that’s giving more time between release?
I mean, it takes time for players to actually get used to the merc, how to counter them, how to play with them, etc. And until players are actually familiar with the merc, they can’t really be balanced, because any balance info is likely skewed by inexperience.
Other games manage to do it. There is Heroes of the Storm which comes to mind, they release a new Hero EVERY month, its pretty crazy… sometimes I haven’t played in a while and I jump back in and am like… “who are these 3 people?”. It is a bit of a learning curve to deal with them but if you enjoy the game enough and play often you do get used to it.
While Heroes of the Storm is a different kind of game, it still does have a lot of different aspects and things to think about when it comes to balance… Sometimes characters are OP at launch (usually the case) but they soon get patched down to a more tolerable level.
The same should be true for DB, I just hope that they are able to keep the Mercs and their abilities unique and interesting enough given their release schedule… While Heroes of the Storm has about 66 or so Heroes at the moment, they (Blizzard) pull all of their heroes for that game and their abilities from their other game series such as Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft, and The Lost Vikings.
