He relies on the most established one and expects a library with autopatching & cloud support plus the community integrated features that he, and his friends, have been using for the better part of their online time.
It must be quite some pressure for the devs to decide to go without it and probably missing an easily larger exposure at first.
SD obviously wants to do without Steam nibbling at their profit and that’s why they have FireTeam.
