I have said for a while now, and still stand by my opinion, that the hit detection(and indeed the shooting in general) on this game is among the worst I have ever encountered to date, and literally kills most of my desire to play.
So I agree that aspect of the game needs some more work.

Roger that. Anti made a pretty detailed post about why this might be and it is something they agree on and are working towards rectifying prior to open beta.

I’m going to hijack my own post with a question!

How is the anticheat going to work, how reliable will it be?
In my opinion it is VERY important that you can trust the anticheat, if you cannot the game will die horribly in a fire.
It’s like in athletics, not fun to watch if you suspect they are using illegal drugs to enhance their performance. :slight_smile:

Sorry to disappoint you here, but you can never trust any anticheat.
This topic is indeed very important, especially for a f2p game. It’s worth a whole new thread (wasn’t there already one?), but I doubt SD can reveal much details as anything hasn’t been decided yet, I guess.

a good server admin thats not on a power trip is the best anticheat, just as long as its not PB

True. It’s also not guaranteed for SD or the playerbase so everyone needs a better solution.

Yep, I’m also against PB. Not because it would be worse than any other program, all programs are almost the same in this regard. But due to performance issues.

A good admin, indeed. The only problem, you won’t find them on pub unfortunately…

You really want an anticheat to block some of the cheaters and a report a review process to get the ones who hide it well.

Right now the best company to approach anti-cheats is probably red5 with firefall. They have their own anti-cheat and EVERY match played is recorded to the cloud and can be reviewed at any time. That is probably the best anti-cheat for a fps pvp game, along with their own internal statistics you could probably eliminate hackers the best that way. Also, they pay you 500 bucks if you develop and turn in a working anti-cheat.

I think it’s important not to underestimate the power of a good admin when it comes to stopping cheaters.
Probably they will have to implement some kind of combination of everything we are mentioning, but even then, if the game is very popular cheaters will find a way…they always do.
But yeah, I’m really concerned about how bad the cheating will be too.

If its like most of the F2Ps out there, cheating can get very bad. Even if you ban the player they can make a new account. IP bans can go a bit further at least.
