With this classes, you can access to the majority of roles availables (capper, chaser, defense, harass, etc.) The only big lack is the sentinel, which is the only class with a sniper rifle (important for the defense)
Anyway, the price to buy a new class (with its base weapons and perks) was very low, it’s only the new item (weapons, belt, perk) which are expensive.
So with the free version of the game, you can quickly access to the majority of classes.

For Dirty Bomb, we can consider they will offer 5 mercs at the beginning, 1 for each class. So everybody will be able to fulfill one of the roles proposed.

As far as I know, we will have 15 from the beginning.

Personally the only things I’d like to see monetised are:

Merc loadouts (balanced ofc). Hope there isn’t too much grind-to-win on this though as an alternative (see Tribes:ascend above).
XP boosts (without being OP or giving any in-game advantage, just to help get the next merc).
Skins + accessories (top hats, pink miniguns etc.)
Voice packs (worms-style)
Clan servers, logos etc.
RL merch (t-shirts etc.)
EDIT: ECHO stats

Stuff I wouldn’t like to see:
Map packs (for reasons Ashog stated).
OP Weapons (to avoid the Tribes:Ascend situation with OP p2w weapons).
Damage / health boosters or other such p2w things.
Weapon attachments or other such p2w things.
Ammo packs (grenades etc.) or other such p2w things :).

Gameservers rented from a few approved hostings? This is a bad idea.

  • Servers hosted by SD / Nexon
  • Servers hosted by community, but only rentable from certain gamehosts

What would you choose?

I agree that in an ideal world we’d have the software to run our own servers on dedicated boxes, but from SD’s perspective that’s not very secure and if somebody cracks it or w/e it won’t be very good for business.

It must have changed over time. The first time I played the game I only has 1 class available to me and it was mostly a support class since it didn’t excel at anything.

Me and many other admins would choose nothing, unfortunately… :o

Same here, but even as a player I prefer to be on a server where an admin can kick an obvious hacker than to be dependant on AC that’s always a step behind.

I’m sure if they allow renting servers there will be admins for the servers. If rentals are done well it will be like running a real dedicated server minus the obvious stuff like loading server mods/addons. And I assume they will have mutators for things like friendly fire, low gravity, and stuff like that.

BLR didn’t allow you to earn xp/game points if it was password protected which is to prevent easy abuse of rental servers to afk bot game points and xp.
