Merc Pricing...

(neg0ne) #41

despite that i personally are willing to pay 10 bucks for a merc ( considering i only might buy maybe 2 more ), i would suggest to lower the price to 5 maybe 6 euros. that would´t chase away people that might love the game but dont give it a chance.

people have to learn a bit to love the game. if they are chased away before they realise what they get for their bucks … hmmm bad selling strategy.

i dont have a clue of this f2p model, but if i pay for something i want to have a choice. on the other hand the game lives from the diversity of mercs. why not let the customers buy any merc they want ( let them choose from all the mercs ) but be free to play just a few. if the mercs are balanced this isn´t p2w.

and yes - separate cosmetics from the perks. let me buy a nice outfit for my fav merc and earn some perks ingame.

if your short on ideas how to get some bucks out of the game, what about selling time?
i dont have that much time for gaming ( like maybe younger ppl ) so i would be willing ( and i guess lot of others too ) to invest in a booster that increases my output (cases and ingame currency - not xp ) per hour for a while.

I think a game said competitive and e-sports must have only cosmetic and personalization (UI, anonceur , loading screen … ) payable for real money. That any element affecting the gameplay should be involved unlocable (Quest , gold system … ) . So yes € 7.99 for a merc to optimize my team is a high price to pay.

You do not have to pay, just unlock for free…

“pay now or grind for xx period of time” is actually one of the pay2win hypostasis.

If you’re going to play the game long enough to be worth paying into, it is probably long enough to earn the content for free anyway.

I’m just going to chime in and say I find the pricing to be too high as well. I can only speak for myself but I would never pay $10 for a merc. Literally wouldn’t even consider it. $3-5 and I might be enticed if the merc has something I really like. Just my 2 cents.

10$ for a merc is too much imho.

i can pay 50$ for the whole game in the store. if the game is realy good. and this is not the case at the moment. but to pay 10$ for a single merc, who is very limited in options anyway?
i think 3$ for a merc is a ceiling here.

Yes I can pay $50 for a new game that I may play for a few hours and/or which will inevitably becomes obsolete after a year or two, since the developers have already moved on to the next project.

Or I could spend $10 or $20 a month (whenever I feel like it) on a game that I actually love playing and which I may be playing for many years to come, supporting the developers who continuously keep working on it.

It’s not even a question which option I would pick.

Players will always argue that the business models promising the most long term revenue just happen to be the ones which charge players little to nothing. The reality is a lot more complicated (even for Valve), and I for one will support SD in whatever they end up going with, as long as it’s feasible for me to do so.

I agree that 10 Euros per merc is way too much.

Lowering mercs will be important since you get 3 mercs for free and 2 being on rotation. That means you need to pay for 15 (or 17?) more mercs around ~150 euros. Let’s be realistic here, I know everyone won’t buy them and they will grind them but as it currently stands it isn’t fun to just grind 50k for new merc. I’m not economist, but I’m pretty sure it will turn many people down from the game when they see the prices of mercs. Maybe dropping down the prices 25-40% (in both credits and money).

They just need to separate skins from loadouts and make them so that you can buy / trade / market them on steam. I remember in nexon launcher there was multiple different skins made by them so you could customize your weapons. I think this will come eventually and it would add new revenue for them. This would also allow artists to do some nice skins for the community.

Plus if we want skins to be a thing there needs to be a way to see your mercenary in some kind of screen loadout screen. Like now we can search through loadouts but what if we had separate screens for every mercenary where you can equip loadouts. Weapons and skins would change every time you changed it. I think something like dota has in the main menu when you go in your profile, kinda like “Dressing room” -stylish.

Didn’t read the whole thread so I hope I’m not saying something someone else has said already BUT maybe Nexon is the one deciding the prices. If that’s the case, starting any threads regarding prices in this forum might be irrelevant. Just saying.

I dislike nexon too, but I’m hoping that they slowly begin to understand why people actually are starting to hate them.
