can someone explain to me what this means? it sounds like to me if we submit anything we wave all rights of the artwork. like we would not get any credit if it was used or shown? i’m assuming this would also mean we couldn’t sign the artwork either? i would love to enter i just want to make sure i have all the facts before i jump into something :)[/quote]
It’s there so that if you submit a picture, and they really like it and put it on facebook or use it in a trailer or something, you can’t sue them.[/quote]
oh ok, i understand now. the reason why i asked is that have have seen other competitions where all writes to the artwork are stripped from it. Like you could not put a signature or put any other identifiers on the piece (it would be blotted out, cropped or drawn over if you did). The company could claim it as their original artwork (that they drew and colored it) and use it for any purpose at all including commercial selling of it (like mass produced posters). that contest was for original (non-fan art) as well which is even worse. i have only seen this once but it made me scared enough to be cautious whenever i enter anything.
