[MAP] Warbell RELEASED - etpromapscript available!

(.Chris.) #41

Got to play it with on your server last night (I was the unskillfull one if you remember) and I must say it has grown on me since first playing it, once you find your way around and know what to do and playing with others who also know what to do it becomes great fun. Maybe some signs here and there to clarify where the main objectives are would be benificial to newcomers to the map as we know most people can’t be assed to look at the limbo menu to find out what to do.

This is beautiful one. In near future i add this map on my server… server adress is: office.ascensus.cz:27960

(]UBC[ McNite) #43

Yea i remember you chris  were some good games

For all that like to view a demo instead of reading the objectives in the limbo menue, here s a demo that shows all objectives for the attackers. Its recorded with etpro (dm_84).

It’s already in competition:
underscore vs tank thirty four @ gamestv.org

(Roeltje) #45

I was looking around in the map for trickjumps when i noticed that there were really lots of them…
So i recorded them and made a little movie of it
it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP_rOplA-j8
enjoy

Wow. You will have to run through my map for me when it is ready for testing. I’ve already included contingencies for players who use the ET Pro verticle push to get into areas they shouldn’t . But It would help to have someone check for these issues as well.

Most of those in Warbell don’t look like they can ruin the gameplay. But the ability to jump the bottomless pit, and jump over the main castle wall could be a problem.

(]UBC[ McNite) #47

Thx 4 posting nullskillz. While it was just a showmatch it was very interesting to watch though. Underscore sucked BIG TIME, but t34 knew the map and played well imo.
Here s the demo of t34 owning underscore.

Nice video Roeltje.
Jumping the pit is no problem because nobody wants to go that way playing the map anyways, it wouldn’t help with any obj. The other way would be a (small) problem.

(Roeltje) #48

hmm ty McNite  i know most jumps are useless  but they look cool  i was looking for a way to jump up over the pit, and that u land on some sort of tiny edge and walk up, but i think thats just not possible. i also was looking for a way to be walking over a thin edge to climb around the castle, but thats not possible too…
the jump where i go from the rock over the wall, when ur high- skilled in trickjumping, it probably takes about 3 times to do it, so most people wont be able to really use it
i think u should not be thinking aah i should have blocked that or whatever, i think it brings a map to a new level if there are some good trickjumps in it  and surely warbell is one of those

(carnage) #49

anyone else having trouble viewing that demo

i get the error “CM_InlineModel: Bad number” about ten seconds in. iv never had trouble like this before with demos and from what i have dug up it seems that error is from a limit on func_brush entites in a map so it doesnt realy make to much sence that it only apears when this demo is running

@Roeltje. no need for that complex jump onto the house roof. u can make it jumping directly from the truck

(Roeltje) #50

LoL never tried that :stuck_out_tongue: stupid of me :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, Jumping the pit can become quite an advantage for the axis. True, it does not help them achieve the objective of capturing the guard house or the book, But an Axis engineer can go straight to the Monestary and blow all of the entrances without having to worry about any ally defenders.

(kamikazee) #53

Roeltje started from the higher ledge (the one the axis can only reach when they would run trough the guardhouse) and jumped down.
Above, he said that it’s hard to do (or impossible) to jump the other way.

The only way to profit from Roeltje’s jump is as an allied player. This way, you can defend the caves without breaking the alternate entrance.

(nUllSkillZ) #54

It’s in the map-list of the “6on6 Hot Cup Of E-Tea”-cup.

(Axeman89) #55

Well done, McNite. Your map is one of the most playable and creative maps all year, and I only found one bug. When I fell into the deathpit, I think I was able to move for a short while, and then fell. I’m not entire sure, though. I gave it a good review in the Nice Killers forums.

(Bravo) #56

A small group of us have been playing this on a privately hosted server for the last few days, we love it.
One time I was an allied engineer making my way to defuse at the garden gate. The nasty axis engy was guarding his plant by hiding in the bush next to the gate. My bullets pushed him back and he fell, I heard him scream and that was possibly one of the funniest moments I have ever had in ET

Psycho Ducks have just ordered a new server for the next three months, Warbell will be featured on that. The guys love it, and so do I. The gameplay seems to get better every time we play, though it is a bit of a panzer friendly map.

Oh, and with regard to opening doors, if you open doors stealthily, they still make a noise…is this intentional?

(]UBC[ McNite) #57

Axeman, can you plz post a link to that forum? I d like to read the review.

Bravo: Do you guys play 6on6? We are searching for clans that have experience in 6on6 on a competitive level for testing Warbell for competition. There might be a TE version coming from this, if we find out it needs changes in the map itself. Warbell is in the mappool for the summercup at xfire.be, and will be tested to tweak the config for that event, and maybe have it in other leagues after that.

#58

I think I found a bug. Don’t know if it’s already know, though. Howewer, I didn’t remember to take a pic and I’m too lazy to go there again

It’s near the Warbell (Axis constructable). If you look towards the mountain side, to the floor, you might notice a missing texture. I’m not completely sure, though

E: Here it is!

(carnage) #59

there have been a couple of bugs found so far and would be interested to knwo if McNite is planning to realese and updated version. but the bugs found seem to be minor and might not realy justify another download

(Bravo) #60

Dunno lol, we have 60 odd members in our clan but they are a bunch of lazy sods tbh.

If you post up on the Psycho Ducks forums and mention times, dates etc that you want to do the testing, I’m sure you’d get a good response. I for one would certainly fancy it, and I know we could get the numbers just depends on the times.
