Low XP Level Server

(Smooth) #41

We will be inviting a lot more players, have a matchmaking system and a team-balance solution, but these things all take time.

Until that point please try and maintain a friendly environment on the Casual AKA Objective servers for all players: http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/35504-SERVER-RULES-Casual-vs-Hardcore

I disagree with splitting the game up, limiting things or segregating players. Look at ET with Jaymod or Shrub! It was really hard to pub ET Pro because there were only so many players. Can you imagine if everyone in ET played ET Pro servers, the game would still be kicking. Same thing goes for COD. Hardcover vs Soft and then you add 15 different game modes! Battlefield3 is a great example of limiting because a lot of servers had a Score per Minute ban on them! Anything over 1000 SPM you would be kicked or couldnt get in. (I think my SPM was 1500ish).

Stop segregating players and have everyone on the same level; same available guns, same classes, same game play (TDM, SW, OJB), same MOD!

This game has vastly improved over the past few patches! My biggest thing is i just want my bullets to go where I am aiming… (Reduce Spread, especially while moving)

Please reward good shots!

Faster Medpad shock rev also.

Add prone so people cant say they are good with m_pitch 0! Make them aim!

Edit: Low skilled players will never get any better or learn tricks by playing in low-skill servers. This is why so many people complain about haxers and cheats even though no one is. These servers are split off from the main stream and if someone wants to buy a server and open it up to all players, guess what happens. Good players get banned from that server and it turns into a low skill server again!

spookify: it’s only ment for the alpha / beta stage right now. Problem is that those who play the Alpha for month far outskill the new ALpha testers thus resulting in them not playing and not providing as much data as expected. In future the restriction will be made by given server admin if and when he wishesh.

(spookify) #44

Yes there are some huge advantages for having played a month over a person that hasn’t played a month. Mainly knowing the maps and obj’s and how the guns shot and handle.

I have played for 2 months now and I still dont know any of the objectives haha I just want to shoot. 2 Months vs 2 Weeks if the player is still out shooting you it still isnt going to be fun. Theres no difference… (Bad Mood Today)

(SockDog) #45

As I keep saying, if people are playing for two weeks and then step onto another server and get bitch slapped out of existence then at least they are (I hope) able to see that it’s to do with a skill difference and not that the game sucks. And no I don’t think paying $90 is going to convince people that they need to try harder, you honestly don’t think there will be “OMGZ DB is ****, not fun, Brink 2, stay awayz, I want my monies back!”.

This isn’t about anything more than easing in new players and having their first experiences of DB not be absolutely negative. No need to read more into it that that.

Again. Thanks SD for doing something. Hopefully the community don’t act like selfish pricks and ignore you because they want a game regardless of the consequences.

(Hundopercent) #46
just ban the sort of pricks like strychzilla and leestyle from alpha altogether - problem solved.

stupid kids.
If they plan on banning players because their elbows are too abusive make sure you toss me a refund. It’s really not our fault you’re incapable of completing objectives 6v2 when we’re trying to be nice and sitting in spawn.

As for the separation of servers, in the games current state, it’s a bad idea. NA has pretty much no one playing (feels like I said this 5X tonight) and EU has only 1 full server. Seems like a poor decision to try and further reduce players in servers. =/ Perhaps we can make a list of people who should be invited and pick up the population a bit so we can actually get some adequate testing/balancing done.

(SockDog) #47

Again, as I’ve yet to receive an answer. What impact does massive skill/experience differences, stacks and imbecilic drama have on the number of players?Seems many here are quick to pull out the player count card before realising that maybe the playerbase isn’t there for a reason.

As more players join it should be our responsibility to make their experience a positive one. That means respective the server rules SD posted in the other thread regardless of your own wants and needs*. Being a little more patient with those people. Not antagonising, ridiculing or being dismissive of them. Generally just being a civilised person instead of some gaming jock elitist jerk.

 • By this I mean don’t justify ignoring the server rules because you paid, or because another server was empty or because you don’t care what SD says. If you want nubs to fill another server join as invite them over, if they don’t come then let them be, being a jerk about it will just ensure that some of them won’t bother playing the game at all.

(Violator) #48

It seems we have in the alpha -

A few pro NA players + a couple of non NA pros, mainly from the RTCW/ET era.
Pretty much 100% non-NA (mainly EU) non-pro comp / casual for the rest.

So the pros aren’t happy with lack of numbers, and the rest aren’t happy that they stack when they are. Speculating here but the pro’s are going to want to practise as a team, use comms etc. so are having to stack to do this and don’t have enough players for two teams worth - I don’t feel its generally out of malice. Would be interesting to get a poll on pro/casual status + location + still playing.

Nah man… When the new players come, I’ll be like “RESPECT MY AUTHORITY” and “ACKNOWLEDGE MY SUPERIORITY”… “WHY YOU ASK… I WAS IN ALPHA THATS WHY!”
jokes aside… I think drama is fun to watch (not be a part of) but drama for the sake of drama for me is like you said “Imbecilic”. But I think there hasn’t been anything too serious or I have just missed something. In my experience so far about the community: everyone has been nice to me :> Also no troubles in game either… though it’s hard to follow the ingame chat at times (maybe because of the positioning of the chat).

(Kendle) #50

Not sure where any of this is coming from tbh, I’ve not seen anything but friendly banter any time I’ve ever played in the Alpha, and as for the rules Smooth posted I’ve ALWAYS followed those rules, in every game I’ve ever played, I thought they went without saying?

If anyone in the Alpha isn’t doing that at a minimum already they shouldn’t be in the Alpha IMO.

I do agree with you, we just felt it would be a good idea to put up something that users could point to and say “hey guys, we’re meant to be playing like this, the devs said so” for the odd occasions where people might not be so considerate.

When we do invite a large number of new players into the alpha, it will help to have somewhere (that they perceive to be less hardcore) for them to play.

Sounds good. So until then we can keep doing what we do which is pretty much play other games until more players are invited. =P

(Smooth) #53

The problem is we keep inviting more people and they get scared away by you guys. Hence the push for a more balanced and friendly environment.

(Hundopercent) #54

Understandable. Would you guys be willing to invite a few top teams if we get in contact with them? Really we just want to scrim and test the competitive aspect of the game. As it’s obvious our ideas of what pub play should be and what you and more casual players want are very different. We can’t aid you much there but we definitely can aid you in the competitive aspect.

(Smooth) #55

We’re definitely planning to do send out several team/clan invites at some point, not sure who/when though as that’s out of my hands.

(Hundopercent) #56

Sounds good. We’ll see who we can get a hold of (just suggestions,) we would want teams that are interested in making the game better and can put the time in.

(Ashog) #57

I don’t even care to answer to that in detail because it is useless and you clearly don’t understand nor capable to understand in the future the meaning of this discussion and how you behaved by stacking against several people (some with high euro ping) who barely played the game for an hour and then chatting abusive things to them and knifing them repeatedly 3 on 1 rookie and then basically spawnraping them. If you think this is the purpose of alpha - go to this post. Hey and collect moar of yr dear US friends to unrep me - I don’t care because I say what I feel is right. No love lost here. I am not joining US servers anymore, not because I can’t hold my own, but because I am disgusted.

(LeeStyle) #58

It’s unacceptable when US players do it but you seem perfectly fine when the Sid team stacks 4-5 members on the same team on the UK server.

(Breo) #59

Is it possible to check the FPS from players who only played a few hours but invited a while ago? I think that a lot of them can’t play because of the performance issues they have.

(SockDog) #60

Would be good to get a player survey out I think, probably monthly up to Beta. Maybe even include some player stats in there.
