Let's Discuss: Team Managment

(Jess Alon) #21

This.

I knew something was setting off that little alarm in my head. I’m out of it today.

(Mr. Magikarp) #22

Luckily for me, as a Steam user, the whole locked voice chat is not a huge issue since Steam has its own voice chat built in. That said, I actually do like pubtalk; it gives me a chance to interact with other players that I don’t have otherwise. Also smack-talk goes immediately from sad to sadder when you realize no one can hear you.

Just to clear up any thing. Voice chat will be open for people in your fireteam. Relax

(McKooza) #24

Wait? I’m not plugging my fansite.
I’m using this as a type of revision, newbie’s can refer to this and look back at previous threads to understand more about the game.

(Thanshin) #25

It most certainly will. Is that so?

No problem as long as the mute function is fast and easy. (ESC->Mute player->Select from list)

Big problem in any other case.

No, thank you. Don’t look for ego trips in a team based game.

(McKooza) #26

Thanks Thanshin!
That’s a well set out post!

(Seyu) #27

Is it official that general voice-chat will remain locked until you get to higher ranks?

(McKooza) #28

It looks so, you can talk to your friends on Consoles but only them until you progress through ranks, which isn’t so bad because I’d hate to have a cocky teenager shouting through my ear during the whole game…

(Thanshin) #29

Cocky teenagers have more free time and ascend through the ranks faster.

So, is such awful idea is implemented, what you’ll get is ONLY cocky teenagers chatting incessantly to prove they can, while thirty-something gamers who have played since Wolfenstein3D are muted.

(Seyu) #30

Oh right, default server setting for voice-chat being off was a pc thing.

(Herandar) #31

Except this thread will be on page two by tomorrow, and no one leaves page one, especially the dreaded newbians.

First I’ve ever heard of it. I don’t believe it for a second without a dev statement confirming it.

(obliviondoll) #32

I’ve heard the “voice chat locked” thing on the BethSoft forums a lot, but haven’t seen a direct confirmation.

There’s been mention in a few interviews and such that it defaults to “friends only” - so unless you change settings, you’ll only be talking to people you know.
