Jack-of-all-trades Build

(Cep) #81

I’m well aware of what firewalling does, but for the time it takes to actually firewall the CP my team is a man down. The benefit of spending that time out of the team is a waste compared to the time it takes an enemy to recapture the CP.

Its too easy to recapture a firewalled CP is all I am saying, if they boosted the times a bit it would be worth it but as it stands its currently not good enough to warrant a man being unavailable to actually perform the firewall.

I have firewall on one of my op builds (my Engi/Op), and I’ve been wondering: say it takes 5 seconds to firewall the CP…does that simply add 5 seconds to taking the CP? if so, it does seem a less useful ability. If it were 10 or 15 seconds (e.g. 2-3x the time it takes to FW it) that seems more helpful.

I’ve taken a CP before when it seemed to take forever, so perhaps that was a FW CP?

This seems really situational - if you have a CP near your primary objective, then the added time it takes them to finish gives you time to stop them, but I’m actually thinking of re-specing my Engi/Op and taking FW off.

I don’t know the times exactly but the time added is not great. I just think for a JoA its better to use that extra point for something a little more worthwhile.

(thesuzukimethod) #84

sounds about right. for a CP that the opposing team has a hard time getting to or taking over, the FW might make the difference. For most, it seems that the CP is either monitored (and the extra FW time isnt really needed) or it’s so unmonitored, the added time doesn’t matter.

Agreed for JOAT build, makes no sense. I’m wondering if it makes sense at all (i realize someone on here probably loves FW, so no offense), but since I dual spec my chars, that point = control turret (which i am liking more and more) or downed fire (again situational) or improved weapon buff (seems the most useful), etc.

I know what you are saying. Last night we were upgrading and firewalling every post we captured, and the other team gets put at a large disadvantage. 8v8 all lvl 20s it makes a large difference. My perspective is from constantly playing 8v8 all humans. And its tough sledding on offense if you can’t hold the command posts. Not everyone on this forum likes what I say, but I am used to playing full matches (which is not the norm for PC judging by this forum) and have experienced defeat from lack of controlling the command posts. Its like a territory that you must control. Although on the surface, it seems like the firewall doesn’t stop them enough, it has a larger impact in full matches with Rank 5.

Alriight, I think all the votes are in about what abilities my Jack of All Trades should have taken. My next questions is whether anyone thinks it’s really worth respec’ing at this point. Given that I have a free point and the DLC will give us 4 more levels, should I bother?

Thanks,

Good point Throbble, might as well keep what you got if you like it. The DLC will make this alot easier.

(tangoliber) #88

When someone on the defense goes to grab a command post, a good offense would take advantage of it to instantly take control of the objective.

Thanks!

My problem is that I don’t like Firewall Command Post. But is that worth respec’ing before the DLC?

It should make the capturing MUCH slower and/or make a nasty surprise like something that shocks you and make you lose 90% of ur health. As it is right now it’s useless as the few extra seconds it adds won’t change anything if there is no one near it to defend it from being captured.

Question: What it does exactly when you’re lvl20 and you respec ur character? Do you permanently lose 1 ability or it makes you go back to lvl19 and you have to regain ur level to regain that 1 ability? I don’t wana ruin my char by doing it.

(Throbblefoot) #91

It just refunds all your points and reduces your XP to level 19. Not a big deal, really.

and you can level it up to 20 again!

You basically lose about 40k XP, thats it:)

(Cep) #94

Yeah you just get to redo level 20 again thats all. Also means any level 20 abilities are not available until then as well so you shouldn’t spend all your free points until you unlock Level 20.

As to the earlier point about the DLC bringing 4 more levels, thats very true but you have to balance that against the extra number of abilities you may wish to purchase as well.
