Well, I just had my first 5 unfun matches.
On the 3 servers I tried, all had a minimum of 3-4 engineers with sniper rifle, one-shot-killing all Lights (and most Mediums).
With the 2x buff (131% dmg), the Barnett does :
[ul][li]244.97 dmg to the head[/li].
[li]163.75 dmg to the torso+arms[/li].
[li]121.83 dmg to the legs[/ul][/li]
Body types :
Lights = 120 HP
Medium = 140 HP
Heavy = 180 HP
- Battle-Hardened = +30 HP
- Command Post / Medic Boost = +25 HP / +20 HP / +15 HP / +10 HP
- Kevlar = -10% dmg
Without the Kevlar
[ul]
[li]a Light can not survive a headshot (max HP = 220)[/li][li]a Medium can not survive a headshot (max HP = 240)[/li][li]a Heavy can survive a headshot with +3 pips[/li][li].[/li][li]a Light can survive a bodyshot with +2 pips (HP remaining = 12)[/li][li]a Medium can survive a bodyshot with +1 pip (HP remaining = 7)[/li][li]a Heavy can survive a bodyshot without additional pip (HP remaining = 16)[/li][/ul]
With the Kevlar
[ul]
[li]a Light can not survive a headshot (max HP = 220)[/li][li]a Medium can survive a headshot with +4 pips (HP remaining = 10)[/li][li]a Heavy can survive a headshot with +2 pips (HP remaining = 15)[/li][li].[/li][li]a Light can survive a bodyshot with +1 pip (HP remaining = 3)[/li][li]a Medium can survive a bodyshot with +1 pip (HP remaining = 23)[/li][li]a Heavy can survive a bodyshot without additional pip (HP remaining = 33)[/li][/ul]
First :
- Since Brink has a lot of map designed around small chokepoints
- Since Brink let you throw grenades quite often and let Engineers put Mines and Sentries
=> It is very unlikely a player will get past the chokepoint door/gate (to be able to return fire against the Snipers) uninjured.
Second :
- Since the average amount of additional HP pips are between 2 and 3 most of the time
- Since Kevlar armor are not given to non-Soldiers very often
=> Most players will get past the chokepoint “gates” with only 1/1.5 pip (or 2 if lucky) available.
Consequences :
- Any headshot on Light/Medium = confirmed kill.
- Any bodyshot = a player with less than 50 HP (for Light and Medium), less than 80 HP (for Heavy).
Third :
- Since each Snipers put 1 Sentry and 2 mines
- Since there’s still the 1/2 Medic(s) and 1/2 Soldier(s) spraying at you
=> It is very unlikely a push of 4 or 5 players can get through a chokepoint.
Fourth :
- Since you can’t change Body Type without leaving the server (= can not go mass-Heavy, can not go mass-MG/mass-GrenadeLauncher)
- Since it’s extremely hard to be a counter-Sniper at chokepoints (= on your side, there’s no long alley/corridor and obstacles to protect you from the grenades at the chokepoints)
=> Most people wait for the level change, and try to get cheap kills far away from the objective to not get bored too quickly
. . . . . . . . . .
By playing the best I could (really), I dodged (almost) everything and pulled a 5-kills-streak and disabled 3 sentries in one push as a rank 3 Light Engy*, alone.
(* without any Engy skill, since it’s a Soldier/Operative character and I can’t change it without leaving the server)
I worked the objective to 14%, then their respawn wave came in, they stormed the place and retook everything.
(since most of my teamate weren’t even trying, when that respawn wave came in, we were only 3 at the objective).
=> It wasn’t really fun :rolleyes:
If even when you pull the impossible move : dodging the several snipers and the few SMGs, avoiding the enormous minefield and killing most of the enemies, your team can’t get the upper hand…
…simply because the map design favors one single tactic for the defenders (turtling Sentries and Mines around the 131% Snipers), it’s only a matter of “Will the enemy team successfully apply the turtling tactic or not ?”, you’re totally out of the equation.
