Is Time Being Wasted In-Game?

I do, actually. Mainly because then I can look at my gun.

EDIT:
Plus I can see that sweet Doge trinket!
The mouse limiter was necessary to prevent Phantoms from having 360 degree 106 damage stabs, but I think that there are better ways to fix this issue that making the mouse movement sluggish. I wish that it was crisp, like in literally every other game I play…

All right, rage in my face, just play nice.

It’s rare I find a game where I can get the mouse speed low enough to be comfortable without modifying game files to let me go below 0, or simply moving the slider to 0 if I can’t edit game files. The fact that I don’t have to do this for DB is wonderful.

Don’t be pitiful.

I hope that was nice?

WTF is your DPI? Mine is 1800, so either you have a really low MS, or you have a mouse with like 30,000 DPI.

(bgyoshi) #24

Up until about 6 months ago, my DPI was 1000. Currently my mouse is 16k DPI, but my mouse speed in Windows is on the far left tick on the slider bar. When my mouse was at 1000 DPI, the slider was one tick higher. Even then, I still had to use a combination of Windows and mouse software to slow the mouse down enough so that a slight rattle from a footstep somewhere in the house didn’t send the mouse across both of my screens.

Sounds like a lot, but I haven’t had to modify mouse speed on a file level since DB in 2015, and yeah, that was with my 1000 DPI mouse lol, with the exception of No Man’s Sky which I don’t count because the all the game settings have horrid min and max limits.

In general, I slow down the mouse so that moving my mouse from far left to far right of the mouse pad rotates my character 540 degrees. That tends to be the threshold where my mouse movements feel matched to screen movement. I also move my arm from the shoulder to aim, and use my wrist to fine tune. Most people I see just use their wrist and fingers and their arm never moves. I used to do that back in Red Faction 2 days, but some time during TF2 I noticed a lot of joint pain in my fingers and wrist and changed to the way I do it now… which has resulted in no joint pain of any kind. Confirmation bias maybe, but I’ll take it. Made my sniping way better too.

Fully agree with the beginning statements:

It would be nice to skip the cinematics though. Maybe even have the option to run around like those pre-game matches while you wait for everyone’s game to load.
That

is an amazing idea.

My question is: why is this not already a thing?
If they want to make ranked and min 20 servers more played they should do the following:

Min 10 servers: 8 seconds to pick map, 22 seconds to change mercs 5 seconds to launch. Pre-game warmup lasts 5 seconds, cinematic should be shortened to just simply showing the three objectives without all the text, such as:
Chapel - “Repair the EV and escort it. Then melt steel beams with EMPs.” (In 5 seconds, with 1-1.5 second intervals for each part.

Min 20 servers: 8 seconds to pick map, 15 seconds to change mercs, 5 seconds to launch.
No Pre-game warmup, no cinematic. They’re level 20+, they don’t need that crap. And mid-games on Stopwatch should last only 10 seconds rather than 25 or whatever.

Ranked - All of the choosing mercs and etc. Should be done before the map. There is no map selection for the teams as this is somewhat biased regardless. Allow 20 seconds to change mercs however in-case team is retarded. Allow time it takes for both teams to load in. Then NO Cinematic, there’s no point.
Also, allow daily missions that give chances to earn different things like Weapon kits or Crafting kits and Expert cases etc. based on amount of matches played daily or weekly etc.

Also, what mouse limiter did they Add? I’d felt my aim was off and things were hitching for a big while… could you elaborate on what they did? I didn’t see anything in the patch notes despite adding a specific time to when melee hits…

(Dr_Plantboss) #31

A long time ago they added a limit to the speed that you can turn so that people couldn’t right click as Phantom and swing around giving them a 360 degree area of 90 damage.

More recently they changed the way the mouse sensitivity works. The mouse sensitivity has been reduced by about half. I used to use a sensitivity of 11.4 but now I use 24.1. They also added a setting for mouse smoothing, which slows response time. This can either be drastically reduced, or completely disabled. I disabled it and it still feels more sluggish than before.

(Xyfurion) #32

Wait, when did they change the mouse sensitivity system?

(bgyoshi) #33

Real real fast after the Beyblade Phantom video came out, back in July.

AFAIK beyblade exploit fix just limited the turning rate when you’re using melee weapons.

For the recent mouse sensitivity changes, it’s not a proper change, it probably came from the fps-cap addition which seem to have an impact on the the way the game behaves to aiming inputs.
As far as I noticed, it may have modified the input lag, thus changing the way parasitic moves are accounted. Personally, I consider the aiming closer to what I actually do with my mouse, and everything that comes with my playstyle, good or bad. At least the game reflects my mistakes closer.

Whats wrong? i just want to know your DPI, ingame sensitivty, and your windows pointer settings.

here are my settings to compare:
i have my mouse at 1800DPI
i use 2.0 sensitivity ingame
my windows pointer settings is 6/11

OH OH OH OH GOT IT

Your shorthand was an alien language to me

I’m pretty sure it’s 16k DPI mouse, 1/11 in windows, and 1.5 in game. My laptop doesn’t have a high DPI mouse so I think that one is at default windows settings and 3.5 in game. I don’t know them off the top of my head though, I can confirm it when I get home.

since you are having trouble setting your sensitivity so low, i suggest lowering your DPI, 16K is WAY too high.
