Is it toxicity/negativity, or morale?

@EOX, I think the point was, he was asked to play something else and he refused to cooperate. He had his reasons. In that game, he mains. I think, he guarantees his performance if he plays his main. And the issue is, how can Blizzard fault a player who cannot flex to team requests?

I don’t know the whole story, but from what I heard it’s a bit more complicated than that. In OW, you can pretty much be reported for anything just because you play a “non meta” pick. Just because the match ended with a loss the players can hold you responsible for that loss no matter how good you did, even if you did made most of the work.

There’s something fishy going on in OW when it comes about those kind of reports, but it’s another kind of subject that doesn’t belong to the main topic.

@bgyoshi Wait what!? We’re not supposed to hit our discussion’s points head on?
Love the gifs btw, I know what you’re saying.

I think a shift now is extremely important. As we get ever closer to the 1.0 release there will be a time when a big flood of new players will come. If they get hit with a load of negativity, the marketing invested will be wasted and a fantastic opportunity would have passed us by.

Thank you for starting this thread. I’ve seen quite a few topics like this be discussed recently and they all share the same message.

Dirty Bomb can be a great place to have fun and make friends. With a little bit of patience and consideration from all of us, it can consistently be this, which is only help the game grow.

Then show us what you got.

In many circumstances, positivity is a synonym of good communication. The content could be the same, but the way of saying it makes much difference.

Right now, I clearly don’t understand why you still are not straightforward on what is coming for the 1.0. Was it scheduled for Q1 2018 ? So you have at most 60 days until release. It’s time to unveil what is coming with it, if the changes are that strong compared to what you’re teasing.

Currently, most of your work is rotating around new maps/map rebuild, mercs and balance. The two first I’ll definitely won’t have any form of complain to voice. Great work all the way. That’s probably why you rarely hear about it. People are mostly satisfied.

On balance, the biggest issue with fiddling around stats of mercs and weapon is that it’s a proper anger black hole for many players. You actually struggle to justify your choices. When people complain about “OMG BALANCE USING STATISTICS BS”, you have close to no answer to provide to them, although the reasoning you guys have is pretty thorough.
And guess what, the struggle, it mirrors down to those said balance choices. The more you work on it, the more it turns inconsistent, with various ways to balance similar weapons, more disputable mechanics to modify these or those weapon, turning things pretty wonky at the end. Fiddling +/- % dmg falloff, recoil or whatever, or even adding weird mechanics such as moving penalty on bolt action snipers won’t resolve deep routed balance issues of the game itself. I won’t write a book about it here, but fragger should never have had 140+ hp and a holy free double kill grenade.

I won’t talk about economy related stuff, I don’t bother anymore.

And do not underestimate issues like server conditions. This is a NO-GO for many players if there are lags and warps all over the place. Even EA or Blizzard got bashed on that field not that long ago. You can shine on that field, you have everything at your disposal. So preferably, work on it PRIOR to the release.

So please, more transparency, keep balance changes consistent and simple, and work on the overall quality service. That should make everyone happy.

PS : I play this game on a regular basis since half 2014 (I started playing in 11/2013). This is pretty good sign of my satisfaction with this game. This post is not what I think, it’s my understanding of what I can read here and there (except server issues, this really pisses me off).

Well in that case, it’s a darn good thing I didn’t even give Blizzard my money for running a game like OW. FFS, losing players are just looking for things to blame. If they had near identical scores, what would they blame? global warming?
