Is Fletcher the New Noob Merc?

(Eox) #21

Fair enough for your ideas part. I missed the bolded sentence. I’ll edit my last post.

Throwing two stickies at a guy takes times. Count at least one second to pull out those two (RPM is 60, that’s one sticky bomb at 0 second an one sticky bomb at 1 second), an unknown value for the travel time that will depend of the distance between you and your enemy and around 0.15-0.2 sec to switch to your detonator and 0.35 to wait for the detonation if you have lock on. If the guy is not chasing you right around a corner or if there’s no cover around, you’ll have to face him. So that’s minimum around 1.50 seconds taking fire against your opponent before being killed. Against decent players able to consistently score headshots, it’s far enough to get killed. Also missing a throw will create a huge gap in your damage output.

Sticky Bombs are awful in duels, unless you play against people who can’t aim or dodge decently. The higher you go in skill, the worse you’ll perform with. You are better out with the Blishlok if you have to deal with a 1v1.

I think making this thread may have just been a gateway to another “Is Fletcher OP?” argument.

No it isn’t. And 2 pretty different things.

Fletcher’s sticky bombs are his ability. He was not made to run round and duel people from full health with guns. He was made to pop around a corner, chuck a bomb or 2, retreat and detonate. As for running round 90% of the time with stickies in hand, stickies have the same movement speed as a knife. Of course you don’t see nader with her grenade Launcher out, it’s as slow as (correct me if I’m wrong) her gun.

I want to use DPS without adding the time that passes since you fire your first bullet, cause rpm counts it…

Anyways, I would never account reload time, cause I don’t have to reload before I kill an enemy… I mostly reload somewhere else :stuck_out_tongue:

Hes Ainsley Harriot… Its quite obvious.

Only issue I’ve felt when playing against Fletcher is the damage of the single-stuck stickies. Drop stuck damage to 85 but let the blast radius inflict the full 85 regardless of where in the radius an enemy is. If Fletcher’s not 1shotting me as every light class in the game, then I’d be fine with it. - If he lands two stickies, then he deserves the kill: at least if he lands 1 sticky, he has to use his gun a little.

You can tell who’s a good Fletcher by how often they try to stick people.

Fletcher isn’t OP as a lot of his effectiveness has to do with the skill of the target. You can’t really complain about me slapping your face with a bomb when all you do is either strafe in one direction or go predictably back and forth with no variation, but a player that can surprise the Fletcher with a direction change can then move to their preferred engagement range and start getting damage out. Fletcher simply isn’t going to have your DPS at range so you can simply play to his weakness and avoid his strengths.

I feel Fletcher’s biggest unbalance comes from how quick you get the stickies. With Fragger I often am caught without a grenade by an enemy group and have to improvise/die terribly, but it’s really hard to run out of ordnance with Fletcher as they resupply so quickly. This allows you to multiply your presence compared to a Fragger.

No, more like noobs like: nader, rhino, proxy, and uhhh aura/skyhammer lol

(Kristin_Cool) #31

Very hard merc to play well, @Sniff is great and yet not completely invincible ( even though he is the best Fletcher)

(CCP115) #32

My main problem is that he has ridiculous control over corners and close range areas. In case you don’t realise, this is a lot of Dirty Bomb in general.

On some maps you can definitely avoid him, but on others, Fletcher just wrecks.

How dare you to forget @N8o :’(

Woot woot represent

Here’s my 2 cents, I thought Fletcher was very powerful with all of the stuff he had. And then I realized that as long as I fight him at range with literally any weapon better at medium engagements, he is decent at that point -_-
