ha ha Just what I was thinking, though admittedly the scale and pacing will be different. As regards flashy XP, I definitely agree that mimicking Gearbox’s XP-with-every-bullet-penetration would not be a good thing.

The TF2 examples are good, and I like the way that game provides feedback. Don’t like the random Crits though. Toggle switches for the win!

You don’t get XP for every hit. You get XP for every kill made while you are playing, and if you play like I do, helping my brothers in their games catch up to my level, it takes forever to gain a level with 1 XP for every low-level enemy kill.

Does feel great to level up though.

In ETQW you get xp for dealing damage, not for kills. 100 dmg = 1xp.
