Idea for ammo station buff - all mercs within its radius get 10 or 15% faster reload speed.

One time I nailed a Proxy that way… so this Proxy decides to try again like half a minute later… this time bringing her Bushwhacker buddy… When the Elevator opens I throw another Mol… I get a double kill. :slight_smile:

Finally they get an Aimee to gun me down from above. So I die, but I did my part to delay their offense. :slight_smile:

i do think ammo station could use a buff.
i do think ammo station health should match aura health station (or are they the same?)
i do think ammo station need more utility than being a trap for noobies.

i dont think ammo station should get buffed exp
(because when you put it at spawn it literally exp making machine)

Ammo stations are already better than ammo packs, I actually think they need a nerf and a buff at the same time but more nerf.

I like the idea of giving faster reload speed (but 15% is a bit too much, 10% or so sounds a bit more fair) but they also need to give only half a clip every second (like ammo crates) and MAYBE give them a limited supply of ammo? Like each ammo station has only 15 clips in it and once all clips are gone the ammo station despawns

The ammo packs that they get are already more useful and flexible than the ammo stations, so all the fire supp mercs would be on a level playing field if the ammo stations got buffed.

Ammo stations are DEFINITELY not better than ammo packs, for the record, in both resupplying your teammates AND resupplying yourself.

In terms of resupplying yourself:

  • Ammo pack takes about a second to resupply you COMPLETELY, and this can be done while on the move.
  • Ammo station takes about half a second to deploy, and then you have to stand next to it for about 2 seconds while it slowly resupplies you mag by mag. This means that you can’t resupply yourself while on the move. The ‘advantage’, if you can call it that, is that you only have to deploy it once, but this is negated by the amount of time you have to spend standing next to it as it resupplies you mag by mag (instead of in one go, like the ammo packs).

In terms of resupplying others:

  • Ammo pack can be thrown, meaning that you can resupply people on balconies above you (like on Terminal), or you can resupply people who are on the other side of ‘no man’s land’ (so you don’t have to run through an area that is covered by the enemy to reach and resupply your teammate - you can just throw it across). Ammo packs can also not be destroyed by the enemy.
  • Ammo stations have the same slowness of resupplying your teammates that were mentioned in the ‘in terms of resupplying yourself’ part. They also can be destroyed, which means that while you CAN leave one with your team for a while, it usually doesn’t last long. Ammo stations are also TERRIBLE for when you are trying to get support xp from your nooby teammates, as they have to know to run TO the ammo station (whereas with an ammo pack you can just run up to them and force them to take your ammo - NO CONSENT REQUIRED XD), and this makes a huge difference when you’re trying to farm support XP.

In terms of non-resupplying purposes:

  • Ammo pack has no benefits.
  • Ammo station can block doorways, but this only works against people who don’t know that you can just crouch-jump over them. And you CAN use an ammo station as a temporary shield but this is very ineffective.

And, this is just my personal experience, but my score per minute with Arty and Skyhammer is MUCH higher than my score per minute with Stoker and Kira, which leads me to believe that generally you can get more XP with ammo packs than with stations.

So yeah, ammo stations are definitely not better than ammo packs.

And you suggested that 15% faster reload speed might be too high - I respect that. But you also said that we need to SLOW DOWN the resupplying rate of the ammo stations, which is ridiculous - they already take so long to resupply with which makes them incredibly awkward for self-resupplying especially (because you have to stop moving, deploy the station, wait 1-2 seconds for your ammo to be stocked up, and then continue moving, whereas the ammo pack only requires you to take 1 second to throw a pack WITHOUT requiring you to stay still). I see no reason why this slow resupplying needs to be slowed down even further, especially for Kira who requires fast movement to stay alive - bogging her down further by forcing her to take longer to resupply her ammo would fuck her up.

I’d rather see that as an augment for ammo station users than a fixed passive side effect.
Right now, i think that ammo stations are fine.

Ammo stations are also good for getting ammo when your stoker/kira is derping around. Whenever I play Kiratana (or melee Aura for that matter) I always make sure I’ve dropped my deployable in a good spot for my teammates so that while I’m out there being a derp, I can at least be helping the team at the same time.

There is no question about it. Packs are far superior to stations. Packs can be thrown to high places or off balconies to teammates higher/lower than you, they instantly give you full ammo, and they can be used to reduce team mates cool down times with direct hits etc.

The only advantage in my opinion to ammo stations is they can cause a temporary doorway block which can be annoying for enemies, but it isn’t hard to take it out. Maybe if they had a lot more HP they might be more useful, but it still isn’t enough.

About the only thing that would make me want to use a station over packs is if packs maybe didn’t give you full ammo but say 50 or 75% instead, and ammo stations instantly refilled you like packs currently do. Even then I’d still be borderline more keen on packs just because they are so much more versatile.

Well while being close 10-15% faster reload isnt much because in this game the less you move the faster youre dead.

I would rather make it like a temporary buff that gives you a faster reload time for e.g. 20 seconds. (Or all packs provided from the Ammostation)

So the Ammostation would give you improved ammopacks which are faster to work with.

That is irrelevant argument. Arty and Skyhammer are awfully effective at killing EV and that’s the reason they will always be ahead on XP/minute than Stoker and Kira. WIth that said, i don’t disagree with you abaout ammo packs.

Reload speed increace is an interesting side abiity for ammo station. I’d suggest to reload time reduction to match weapon Speed modifier -17.5% for LMG, -15% for Sniper rifles, -12.5% for Assault rifles, -10% for SMG, -5% for MP and -2.5% for pistols. The heavier gun - the better bonus it will recieve.

But in return buff Ammo pack direct hit bonus. Make it 5% and apply to full ammo players.

i think packs and stations are equal. camping with a station is way better than having to rely on a teammate throwing packs.

…maybe turtle should remote detonate his wall that would be cool
