Wow… I’m kind of surprised I was so useful.
Should post tips more often I guess.
I need to learn how to Dodge
Dodging is something I’ve been working on recently as well.
Whenever I come across a player that I have a hard time tracking I try to pay extra close attention to what they’re doing so I can emulate that particular strafe or dodging method and see if it works for me. Constantly changing what you’re doing while adapting and reacting to specific weapons and play styles over the course of a match will make you especially hard to pin down. With strafing in particular, try not to fall into patterns and vary the distances you strafe in each direction. Also, fully analyze each engagement and decide what you need to prioritize. If a target has low HP you may want to focus on accuracy over dodging but dodging may be more important when you have low HP and you’re opponent will need to reload soon for example.
If you are confident in your own aim and ability, thinking about what you have a hard time tracking with a particular weapon and merc can really help make you a harder target to hit in a 1vs1 - think of your own experience tracking when deciding how to dodge.
The strafe and crouch combination I mentioned above (on my screen) just looks like a blur of animations and I really have trouble pinning those players down in particular. I swear my mouse and game lags in those engagements. Jus need to git gud tho
@pumpkinmeerkat actually, back when i played on a laptop, certain mercs and dodging styles would consistently drop my fps, so you might be actually experiencing that!
If my TF2 scout days taught me anything:
Circling your opponent in one direction (aaaaaaaa or dddddddd) at close range throws almost everyone off. Especially when they get used to it and you change direction on them. It’s also really difficult for low-sens players to track since they have to reset mouse 2 or 3 times to 360 and it’s a great strat if you’re a high-sens player using shotguns.
ADAD doesn’t work at long range
Instead of popping out from behind corners, jump from behind them
In mid-range adad fights, aim center-mass and do some aaadaaaadddddddddadadddddaa kind of dodging instead. If your opponent is just going to straight adadad in place then you can just center-head. Usually adad players are trying to get you to track them, but just keeping your cursor in the middle of their movement works every time.
Ducking against snipers is real good, even in sniper/sniper duel
But honestly it’s mostly just about reading your opponent. Don’t run into 2v1s. Different things work better against different players. Players that duck a lot probably aren’t ever going to headshot you. Players that adad a lot won’t have much (if any) lateral movement. Snipers aren’t going to move much. Walls and long jumping off them are your friend when you’re retreating. Etc!
@watsyurdeal
One thing i noticed when i saw your gameplay was that,no matter what weapon you use, you’ll still play like a ultra aggressive m4 fragger main would.
What i mean is, you bank on your amazing accuracy and your abilities to give the most aimpunch to your opponents and get kills no matter what the situation is, it’s not nessecarily a bad thing with a grandeur Redeye, but it’s not good either, because the grandeur’s ROF is not good enough to pour out enough aimpunch to cripple full auto users, i’f you somehow miss your second or 3rd shot, you’re done for unless you manage to run away.
you don’t use your smokes to confuse pepole or block pathways, but you use them to direct attention to you and get kills (like a fragger would),which is something that’s very double edged i’f you’re against good players, there’s 4 possibilities:you die empty handed, you doom your team, you allow your teamates to sucessfully flank your enemies, or you can ace the entire opposing team by yourself. There’s a good example of this situation at 1:37, where a kira shuts you down with the EV’s mg.
What i see isn’t really a problem of dodging bullets, because you can clearly compensate with your accuracy, but rather a problem in switching playstyles when fighting with different types of weapons. I’m not saying you should drop your actual playstyle, 'cause it clearly works for you,but you should just play differently with semi autos i’f you don’t want to eat a larger bowl of quality lead.
Pepole already gave useful advices on how to dodge and survive,so i figured i should point something else important about you :b .
Only thing I can think about is spam spacebar. I hate it when the enemy does it when I’m in 1v1 with them and it makes me miss 90% of my shots so I lose most of the time. In my opinion it should be patched but until then, just abuse it to your advantage.
Edit: I’m not talking about just constantly jumping, I’m talking about jumping next to a wall, and then jumping from the wall to another wall and repeat

cool stuff huh
but it can be done max 3 times and he will just plop to the floor.
best thing to do is disengage and his jumping will become pointless
Agree with @Pumpkiller. There were some points in the gameplay where the better move would’ve been to fall back and bait your enemies into approaching you one by one. If you aggitate the other team enough, they’ll be very eager to try and get close to you and shut you down, which you can take advantage of.
I definitely can use some better evasion but it’s hard because when I’m in the heat of it my brain shuts down and I just think kill them and don’t die >.<
All of my skills can use tune ups…
I’m surprised nobody mentioned corner hugging yet.
Obviously it works best with burst/semi auto/bolt action rifles, especially when your opponent has a full automatic weapon:
You use AD to strafe in and out of cover with unpredictable timing, forcing your opponent to miss out DPS while you sill land your burts/shots. Practicing this will also improve your dodging while in the open, and this is much safer to do.
On a side note, if you are fighting 2v1 a lot, try to improve your positioning instead. With equal skill level you should never win a 2v1 unless you surprise them somehow (for example by flanking from behind). This is not Quake, you lose accuracy by moving/jumping, increasing your own time to kill as well, so they just stand still and kill you before you can get any of the enemies.
Trying to escape is a different story, if you don’t want to fight back walljump spam is a good strategy, but this thread is about fighting.
I thought Doge trinket can help you to do(d)ge bullets
well that’s sad…

Learn this and you will dodge bullets with ease[/quote]
All I remember from this gif is medpack dodge meme
also that wont help you since he actually hit by bullets later
Why dont you try this?
Not the best idea ever but:
If its a 1v1 I move towards them while also moving left or right that way i can back them into a corner and limit their own mobility. If im trying to flee, I attempt to wall jump and move in random directions.
@Lord_Coctus unless you are pushing or taking advantage of numbers/enemy has low hp, its rarelly a good idea to move towards the enemy: they will hold their ground and have an advantage as you move your bigger and bigger head hitbox into their crosshairs
