How to play Sparks?

(3N1GM4) #21

@Faraleth @Amerika Shouldn’t these “how to play” discussions be in Merc Discussion?

Can you do maths?

Just the game I played just now.
It’s about 10k support XP

And as someone who plays like they don’t care about k/d, I got revived quite a lot. Like 4 times in 10 seconds. It makes the difference. In that game I was the frontline, and Sparks carried my ass up the hill.

Also note how we have two people playing Aura on attacker, and then after the second round, our team has no more medics besides Sparks.

Just because you’re bad at Sparks doesn’t mean she’s not literally the best medic.
This makes no sense, sorry.

-Aura is a good area-controlling merc. Fragile, but shotguns and the Blishlok are nice. Best merc for defending, insane heal-abilities due to a permanent AoE heal.

-Sawbonez is a more mobile and bulky merc. He has nice HP and healpacks which regenerate the HP to maximum. He has nice guns and can be on the first line in a firefight.

-Phoenix is like Sawbonez but trades some of the survivability (10 HP) for an AoE heal. Great arsenal, nice Ability and self-revives.

-Sparks has shitty healthpacks and the gun forces her to play a Vassili-playstyle and you can’t heal if you’re in the last corner. This makes her healing abilities pretty weak.
Reviver is powerful at reviving people, but a medic who keeps the team alive don’t need to revive them. She has a bad weapon arsenal and nearly no survivability. Plus I have yet to see a Sparks who supported her team a whole game instad of playing that MLG-sniper-style.

Those are the facts. All medics can revive, and all can heal a great amount of players, besides Sparks. She is the worst medic in the game in terms of being a healing medic.

But nice you seem to know how bad I am with a Sparks instead of writing down something productive. I am extremely bad with Sparks. But I can play Aura, Sawbonez and Phoenix and be the best scoring guy in my team having multiple revive-sprees/Miracle workers or even Doctors and keeping my team alive instead of running MLG-headshots.
1 sparks who sits behind and revives and at least 1 sawbonez/phoenix who is in the line of fire that keeps everyone patched up = win

Seriously sparks is best when paired with another medic, like aura is best when paired with rhino, fragger/thunder with sawbonez/phoenix etc…

But is a medic the best medic if he’s the best only when paired with another medic?

@Ctrix I’ve asked about the actual window where you see the EXP,

(Scav) #26

I could talk about her all day - my favourite merc to play - but heres the first two vids that inspired me instead:

Also, for the love of God, take the pissing contest elsewhere, OP’s question was how to play Sparks, not who is a medic or which medic to play or whatever personal problems you got.

I’m guessing you guys haven’t come across many sparks that know how to use her right.

Exactly 2. The first one we all know who this is.

You really thought i was good? <3

Here yah go, I still in the process of making a video for it but you may as well have the notes.

Everything You Need To Know About Sparks.

Sparks Stats.
HP: 80
MS: 470
C4 Plant Time: 5sec
C4 Defuse Time: 8sec

Abilities:
Revive Gun: Allows you to revive people from a distance, and acts as a makeshift long range rifle.
Damage: Full Charge

 • 65 To Body
 • 130 To Head

Small Health Pack: Heals you instantly on pickup

 • 30HP Instant
 • 40HP Direct Hits

Tips:

 1. Sparks is better at reviving then healing.
 2. Use your health packs to “bandage” your teammates if you aren’t in the line of fire. Otherwise save it for yourself. Note the word “BANDAGE”.
 3. When running away you can drop your health packs to pick them up and get a instant heal.
 4. You are Sparks! You are fast! Use that to your advantage.
 5. The Revivr can’t shoot though glass. Remember that.
 6. If you’re trying to be combat-oriented, hit enemies once with a full Revivr shot and finish with primary. At longer ranges, full charge headshots.
 7. If going for the support role, stay in cover and revive when people go down, bandaging is not a focus here so don’t expose yourself just to get a pack to someone.

Cards:
Honestly anything with Get Up, Faster Charge, or Potent Packs is good enough. For the best card that would be the 383.

(CCP115) #29

Sparks Sniper can revive people for some reason. Try use that.

Also Machinepistols really don’t suffer from accuracy penalties. Put that movespeed to use, jump, aim for the head of course, use corners, save at least 1 hp pack for yourself, and if you can get in a fully charge REVIVR shot, it’s almost a guaranteed fight.

(Jostabeere) #30

Also can an active Sparks player confirm what @Ctrix said?
It sounds extremely OP for me if you can revive up to 200 HP in less than a second while a normal defib lacks the range and can res up to 100 only with a longer charge than a second.

(Ctrix) #31

@Jostabeere
We lost because no frontline, but here’s an XP breakdown for you. Only played Sparks for the full game because there was literally no good merc for me to play.
Oh I did Repair the EV first stage, but I did everything else as Sparks.

Edit:
Here’s a game where we didn’t exactly steamroll them, but clearly they had no hope.
Really not a good map for Sparks though.

(Jostabeere) #32

I still feel Sparks is getting less EXP then other mercs just cause she isn’t healing as good as other mercs actively. But it seems you can play her, not like me.

(scavazzi4) #33

@Jostabeere sparks has low score/minute due to her relatively low killing and healing power.
Reviving at range is THAT good but finishing is easy and revive cancel is a huge counter.
Having 80hp doesn’t help too, sure you can self-heal fast but getting gunned down or blown in no time is easy and you can’t make points while you’re dead.

(Chubbster) #34

I tried keeping up some of the tips, I think easier said than done but I did manage to get some kills with her rail gun. I remember when she first came out and I got her. I really did just focus on reviving and boy when you’re in a “JUST REVIVE” mode, you revive over 20 times. OFC she’s great at just running and reviving. Kills however, I find it hard to juggle.

Man, I have to say, if she’s the only healer, or paired with a bad healer, it’s really hard to carry. Hence why some say she’s a good complement healer if your team can afford it.

(Jostabeere) #35

Just to show contrast to a real medic imo. Aura in Stopwatch.

(Ctrix) #36

@Jostabeere
Aura isn’t really comparable to anything. I got top scoreboard just putting my heal tower at the corner in second objective on Trainyard, then went to the other entrance and camped the turret whole game. Finished top scoreboard with like 12000 XP. The other team couldn’t do anything because no grenades I assume.

Here’s me playing some random Sparks. Testing out ShadowPlay since I got a new Gfx card.
On that note, dat compression artifacting. X_X

(Chubbster) #37

Would you say you need good twitch reaction or good tracking?

(Ctrix) #38

Tracking. Definitely.

(capriRocket) #39

tracking alone wont get your far, at higher levels you need to hit flicks to the head consistently.

to paractice this you can “spam” min charges until you have that aim foundation and from there on you can make every shot connect on any range as soon as you get a target.

(TheAcidpiss) #40

Tracking. Definitely.
remove bob, headshots will be that little more easier. aiming in general tbh
