I wouldnt mind it being black. Hell, i would mind a giant dick appearing on the screen during my blind time. That white hurts.

Could easily just be an option in the preferences, instead of white it goes black and fades back in.
Doesn’t give anyone an unfair advantage, and helps with people who have issues with the bright white. No one is going to complain that it goes black, as it is their own choice to change the option.
+1 for adding it, as it is beneficial to some, and detrimental to none.
