How do we find time + Region compiling

(MindConfusion) #21

Bit more to my story.

22 male, unemployed (yes I do landscaping (casual)) mostly stay at home and look for full time work. 10mth old daughter who is walking and talking (very annoying) she always wants on the computer and music played 24/7 some stress there when trying to map away lol.
Also once the mrs has gone to bed I stay up another couple hours mapping or playing ET.

Its sad though when I get seriously stressed out from mapping I hit ET to relax for a couple games (medic) within couple minutes I’m on a roll killing everything left and right and end up forgetting about the map lol.

But its good to see that everyone is in the same boat as each other with mapping, kinda makes us a big happy family :drink:

SD/GTK Radiant also supports region compiles. Create a square brush around what you are after and use the region menu. Save the map as a special region map (.REG - On the file menu) and compile as normal. Perfect for testing architecture/lighting. For scripting use fastvis/nolight compiles instead as scripting does not need pretty things.

Tnx alot, didnt know that u could compile with the region stuff, always thought that was only for making just a part of the map show in the editor.

sock (or any other moderator), could you split the posts about region compile into another thread, so it’s easier to find using the search function, and get a link in the inportant links sticky thread?

Added to sticky thread at the top of the forum.

I know this is an old topic but…

I just tried this out tonight and it works great except for one problem. The skybox that Radient created around my selection had the “shader not found” image all over it. Is there any way to get it to use my sky shader so I can check the region with proper lighting?

(kamikazee) #29

AFAIK, it’s not possible to configure it in Radiant.

Unless you do a “Save region as…”, open it and change the shaders on the walls, of course, but that’s a little longer then GTKRadiant doing it automatically.
