@fiesling
about orthophotos:
it’s not that easy to find orthographic images in decent resolution.
my aproach is to search on the webpages of the desired village or country, as they often have a aerial pictures hidden behind the terms LIS or GIS(Geographical Information System):
Example:
www.obwalden.ch is the offical website of the Kanton Obwalden in Switzerland. They have a very good LIS/GIS. Download the Autodesk-Plugin. Choose MapGuide, choose the location, layers, scale (there is a rightclick-menu) and take a screenshot. I used the Gemeinde Engelberg for my tutorial.
(if you need a mapscan of that area, drop me a line)
www.nasa.gov has recently released old spy photos. They are mainly B/W, but good for structure.
In Switzerland there is another source of images, the TWIX ROUTE, a map programm with a lot of orthographic images of the area.
Paraglider Pages are another source of images. But most of the time you need to de-distort the pics.
try to use Synonyms for Orthophoto in google Image search:
photoplan, orthophotoplan… (and all these with f instead of ph)
If you have a specific place in mind, maybe I know a source.
about ase:
hl2hm will drop a .map file. You have to transform it manually acording to the tutorial found on this forum.
