Seems decently noticeable from the video when he’s running. But you’ll still get people yelling about it because they were unobservant.

I did a playtest with him recently and while getting snuck up on is NOT fun at all… I wouldn’t say he is super OP but I think maybe it would be more balanced if we reduce his HP a bit. So let us know what you guys think of him. We are looking to get him out this week so fingers crossed on that. I’ll let you know as soon as I know an exact ETA.

None of us would know. His shield didn’t exist in closed beta and back stabbing isn’t in this game, sooo…

  5. Unknown atm.

  6. He might possibly be able to survive a headshot while cloaked, as mentioned in the video.

  7. I doubt he has the 1-hit ability like the Spy in TF2, though he probably deals enough damage to take out a Fragger in one hit, and probably Thunder to (when he’s released). NOTE: This is just an assumption.

  8. Oh god I want that!

@MissMurder At :42-:43 seconds in the video is shows some of his loadout cards and only one of those is shown to have the katana, the other two have the stiletto and combat knife… Is it true that not all of his loadouts have the katana? How do the others compare in damage?

Just wait and see how he plays out before making assumptions… If he is truly OP he will be nerfed soon. You cannot know what he needs til he is out in the wild because all you have right now is speculation.

1) About 90% they said, he looks like a cloudy silhouette

  1. It does drain while cloaked, at a fast rate when moving apparently, that + taking damage will shred it if used unwisely, theres also an augmentation That increases his and Redeye’s ability by 40%, if you look closely at the clip sprinting towards the generator in Terminal and then the one where they discuss its ability to shield incoming damage (when being shot by a Rhino) you can see that the cloak was draining at a much slower rate since he was moving while crouched.

  2. Meh, 120 is a decent middle ground, he and Redeye are at the same health, making them on par with Skyhammer, Arty and Stoker, I think Nader should be at 120 health at it seems to be the middle ground imho.

  3. I’m not a fan of him but I find him alright.

He’s got the best SMG in the game, which is already widely considered OP in the competitive scene, and he’s got 120hp + a MASSIVE shield that essentially makes him tankier than fragger himself. Yeah, I see no issue with that.

Phantom is forced to de-cloak, losing his damage mitigation instantly
loads up pieces of lead into his head

He’ll really only be good if he gets the jump on you (which he’s suppose to do). But, in a 1v1 head-on match, he’s pretty much like Sawbonez without medpacks. Of course, we won’t know how strong he is until we get him.

So players would either play him as an Recon Scout, or the Spy from TF2.

That’s where you’re wrong. The way I see him used is primarily as an additional damage dealer, with his ability being used as a shield rather than “cloak”. (Which, will still be applicable depending on the situation).

How much of a “shield” that really is, we’ll have to figure out later, but the plain fact that he has one and already has more health than majority of classes in this game? Alongside the best SMG? Silly.

Can’t see any reason why not since his ability shields him as well. Though personally I think damage reduction rather than completely shielding him from damage should also be looked at.

Again, the shield cloak doesn’t matter in the middle of a firefight, as it will deactivate once Phantom starts an attack. It’s only useful while you’re not shooting someone, and you can still be seen cloaked if you are moving, so it’ll be difficult to use head-on also. You won’t be able to play him as a bruiser.
