Oh god, why. That was like the only reason to use it.
Hello Phantom!
About that stiletto nerf, I’m a bit new to the game, what’s the stiletto’s deal versus the other melee weapons? I made a loadout card that has the stiletto on it, didn’t see the knife on the card at first, but when I went into gameplay I noticed that it felt way harder to execute people than with the default knife I had (the only thing I really use the knife for aside from running). On the other hand, the cricket bat seemed to work great for it (I’m guessing it has better reach than the default knife?).
Well, my point is this, what’s the stiletto’s beneficial trait? I think I saw “AUTOMATIC” written on it, so I’m guessing you can just hold the button down to keep swinging, maybe the other melees can’t? Sorry hah, I didn’t test this at all, like I said I only use it for running and the MMB quick execution. Thanks!
The reason to use the stiletto was the high heavy attack damage of 90. By default it could outright kill several mercs. With the Chopper augment you get even more damage and can 1shot 100 health mercs and less with the heavy attack. The entire benefit of the stiletto was the high base damage over other melees. It made meh loadouts amazing.
And yes the bat has more reach then other weapons. The problem with this is that I believe it also has a minimum range when attacking deployables. However, if ANY part of the hitbox is between the max and min range it will be considered a hit. The big issue with that is that some deployables like auras health station fit completely within the minimum range if you are too close to it.
@Ardez, I hope they are trying their best to release him without any bugs or problems, I just hope we don’t have to keep on waiting for too long, or be told that the patch has been pushed back. When Sparks was released there were quite a few bugs and for some reason I’ve been having some crazy audio probs with the game and fps, hoping it would be fixed next patch.
Plus there has been lots of hype and excitement with Phantom especially, and with this type of merc I can see there be lots of problems with balancing, but I was hoping that they would reveal him once they already tested all the kinks and stuff, not wait until later. Not unless that wasn’t their intention.
Another big issue is that the damage is dealt with the alternate attack on the bat just as the downwards swing has finished and it’s coming back up. It makes it really weird to use.

I hope it doesn’t get pushed back too far
I am really looking forward to trying out Phantom. We will see as the announcements to come though.

the cricket bat has longer reach but the stiletto does more damage on a heavy attack. Tons of damage.

Have some more hype while you wait.

Thanks for the stiletto clarification, guys! Thankfully I got myself a card with that more regular knife, the one with (what seems to be) better range than the stiletto so executions are a bit easier now. All that’s left for me to do is stop habitually trying to melee execute Nader when I’m not really paying attention, hah.
You and me both!
I play Nader. Man, even enemy Naders try to knife me when I’m down out of reflex.

I shoot downed enemy players more often than not because I am used to playing Skyhammer and Arty and I am also incredibly lazy. Laziness is the key to consistently surviving against martyrdom.

Shooting at downed enemies would be no problem if all the skyhammers in your team would gracefully drop two ammo packs instead of one for themselves. I kid you not, I was in with 4 skyhammer in a team and no amount of pleading and v-2-2 would get me some. To amke matters worse, I still can’t find the new ammo-station’s location on most maps, and end up where they used to be. I then shed a tear, and suicide.
To trigger a Nader, just pull your knife and take a step into her direction. Then back away and watch her blow her load into nothing!
@Viquel I play as Fragger and HATE when no one will drop ammo it sucks, and I can’t find the stations either so I just try to go on a cricket bat and grenade spree XD
And tears filled your eyes as you find a new place for ammo box after you went on a spree
I sure hope Nexon / SD will post the patch notes before after the patch.
