Has dirty bomb gotten boring?

(N8o) #21

Any game I go into is a disorganized mess, so I will be playing with DBNation players for now on. I am loving the actual competition that we have over there.

Repetition can be boring and right now DB is very repetitive due to the small amount of maps mainly. Saying that though I feel as driven to play as I did when I first tried the game out. Over 300 hours in game and I think that the flow of updates and mercs are enough to keep alot of people interested, if the phoenix patch wasn’t delayed i’d say this thread wouldn’t even exist imo. Certain game updates may push people away or make them less inclined to want to play due to them not agreeing with a certain tweak and thats expected, there is still a strong core of people playing daily though and are involved with the community enough to want to keep play. There is a steam group that @Faraleth made and it houses all the die hard DB fans, come join and you’ll never find a boring game and when private servers come we’ll be holding events weekly that will bring something new and exciting, so come join us!

It’s not boring to me, I very much enjoy the game at it’s core, when everything works as intended.
It’s more about not having an easy way to play with equally matched teams, and being frustrated with bugs and poor performance (sudden FPS drops from 144ish to 30, or game completely freezing for a second or longer).

Pretty much.

It’s boring for me because it’s too easy. If you join a 6v6 game, you automatically become the stacked team. If you hold back the enemy team for 30-60 seconds, an enemy will rage quit. Once they are down a player, it’s very easy to push their spawn and make someone else quit in a snowball effect. It’s extremely rare to find a balanced game since players will quit as soon as it becomes difficult.

I still refuse to play competitive since the matchmaking is still broken. Even when I do play, the winning meta always consists of a sawbones and a fragger. Most of the mercs are just copies of each others with an interchanging simplistic ability. Other mercs are flat out useless and have no place in comp.

Skins are useless to get. I have no desire to go above bronze since it’s just re-textured pixels.

The most fun I’ve had was in closed beta. 500+ regulars, all pretty skilled and knowledgeable at how to play. Close matches ensued. Close matches, no rage quits = fun times. Oh, and all the mercs were useful back then.

Well at start it is kind of annoying since you will die most of the times, then you get better and the game is much more enjoyable, then comes the time to play some other video games other then the current game you play, then you come back and love what you play.
I never got bored while playing DB (unless it is morning and I woke up not too long ago then everything is boring).

It gets boring after you have the loadouts for mercs and all mercs bought at the time.

Then you are sad with comp mode or stomping pubs.

[quote=“derpypenguinz19;76761”]This. Bad teams prevent me from playing mercs that I have fun with, like Kira and Phantom. Instead I have to play Sawbonez and Skyhammer, because nobody ever switches to a medic or fire support.

Yep. Good thing Bushwhacker and Arty are one of my favourites so I have objectives, ammo, EV destruction covered. But I stopped switching to medic in pubs unless I actually want to play as one. You need to balance your fun with team needs so you won’t get frustrated by constant losses or playing mercs you don’t want to.

Nah

(Volcano) #29

pretty bored of bad map design

(LinkSaini) #30

Yes after playing on the same maps over and over again!

(mrlong2) #31

All mp games are Boring without custom server plugins.

But… Kira is Fire Support.

With the amount of scrubs and d*cks around, there’s always something different. Then, once in a while, there are players who understand team synergy… and magic happens

(D'@athi) #34

Mh, probably the most obvious problem for me is the big skill-gap when playing pubs.
One time, you easily own most of the server. The other time you get on a server, and having not the usual “lowlevel”-players but people knowing how to aim and knowing the maps, and you get your ass ripped wide open, because you are not used to people “shooting back”.
So, atm, just doing missions, earning cases and credits, and hoping there will be some balancing sometimes (Minus competetive and pugs. Sry, something restricted like that shouldn’t be neccesary to get “backfighting-but-not-destroying-enemies” in a game).

So has this game gotten somehow boring? Yes, somewhere in between noobs, skilled-ones, and people shooting before you come around the corner, just to ask you after the match, why you are so low, with your high-lvl.

(chicHouse) #35

300 hours here and I find this game every time more amazing.
just had 83 knife kills only on stopwatch. massacre. never had that much fun ever before.

(N8o) #36

After 413 hours of massacres in public matches, yea… Steam rolling has gotten boring.
After actually playing with good players though that are part of the DBNation team, it has gotten some of its magic back. I actually have good competition and not mindless drones that don’t understand what teamwork is.
