GtkRadiant under Windows 7

(Xterm1n8or) #21

Hi been a while since i last looked in these forums.
I found a solution to the save problem in 1.4 and vista/win7.
Start GtkRadiant then goto edit > preferences. In the ‘Layout’ section, untick ‘Use win32 file load dialogue’. You should now be able to save, save as and save selected as normal. Be sure however to add the .map extension when saving.

This may nor work for everyone, but it has for me. Good luck

Hi,

The GTK Radiant 1.4.0 works for me under Windows 7, i just have 1 problem. When I press N on an entity to bring up its settings, the program encounters an error. I send an attachment about it. Please help!

Thanks,
Csocsi

PS.: I have the Newest Visual C++ installed on my system. (I had Visual Studio 2010 installed on my PC, but i completely removed it with the MS remover tool.)

Do you have in background a program which modify the behaviour of the system, like enable resize on all windows?

I have same thing with a program called PowerMenu, which can reduce everything to the right of the start menu bar.

I need some help… big time… I am pretty sure the problem is windows 7 related.

I have been working on a small Duel map for jedi academy, when i went to save it, it would not save. the autosave doesnt work either.
this is the error i get whenever i try to save and whenever the autosave tries to save.

ERROR: couldn’t open C:/Program Files (x86)/LucasArts/Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy/GameData/base/maps/KoTp_JKA_TournamentNo brushes selected.
for write

please someone help me! i really dont want to lose this map!

You can try to open Gtk, start directly a compilation without nothing: it will dump some files on your desktop; Keep the .map, it will be needed to save any new map. Just copy it in your mapping folder and rename it as you want, then save you map on it

edit: http://www.thejawaclan.com/index.php?/topic/16747-gtkradiant-save-problems/
and: http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=Academy%2FGameData%2Fbase%2Fmaps+No+brushes+selected.
Data under C:/Program Files (x86)/ has special Properties for access.
I would suggest to install the game in a self made folder under c:\games\swjkja\GameData…
Else you can modify the properties of that folder and its subfolders, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-files/how-do-i-change-folder-and-file-permissions/465f2b42-63dd-4486-8dd1-c870290efeed
The first answer should work for windows 7…

I also heard, it works when you create the file with the exact name manually and put it there, like a empty file from notepad.

I would suggest C:\ETMap, dunno if the messing model paths has been fixed, just in case…

Here I tried empty file but did not work.
