Get the performance at a respectable level!

Can’t agree more. Good development work factors in performance and solid testing methodology as you develop your product. Doing it all later can turn your product into a powderkeg as decisions made early on can severely impact how easy/hard issues are to fix later on when the inevitable issues arise.

This would work in the old world where games were near finished and just needing polish in Beta, since 2 years ago Beta standards now means early Alpha. Buggy unplayable laggy crap, i will say that DB is one of the better Betas for bugs and game play but performance rates up there with most other Early Access games.

Games which are made in peoples basements off free place holders and engines, not by large companies with the resources to make a real product.

If this wasnt Early Access Free for all to play on Steam, the whole Beta thing would have more ground to stand on.

Alpha = game is unplayable who’s only purpose is to prove some shit is working in a sandbox environment. Eg. yes bullets are firing and hitting that thing over there. There is no ‘game’ to be played, if you can play it anywhere close to the final design it’s not an alpha it’s a beta.

Played earlier today, was dropping to like 15-20 fps from my standard, but not great, 45-60 fps. Never had that 'til today, usually stable. This only happens with Dirty Bomb, any other game runs completely fine.

Can barely get to 100fps now and I should be more than capable of holding 144 minimum.

while upto 100fps sounds great it’s not. Stutters constantly, drops to 0fps when knifing lately wtf?? drops in a fast paced game just destroy your movement, aim and momentum all at once.

5960X oc to 4.6ghz
SLI GTX980
32GB
SSD for os and games

Single card of dual perf sucks. no other game has ANY issues. Downloaded 120GB+ worth of games to benchmark and compare against reviews and I beat 90% and match the rest. Hardware is fine, game has too many issues to bother anymore can’t be bothered to play when my fps is sickeningly bad. No perf improvements for months just removal of stuff that made it playable devs killing it like it’s their job.

…and they’ve been doing that. The last few updates have included performance improvements. I’m sure it’s not priority number one right now.

I wonder if there’s issues with their UE3 modding. We know for a fact that they’ve been improving the base engine quite heavily. Their usual answer when people were asking about an UE4 port of dirty bomb is “We’ve heavily modded the engine so the port will be difficult and the results quite poor compared to what we already have”. Anyway, I tend to consider that UE3 does not “like” high fps. It generally creates wonky framerates and shutters with it. Some devs using it in the past (chivalry, tribes ascend) even came to the conclusion that an fps lock at 120 was improving the consistency of the game feel and overall performance.

So, I don’t know, I won’t vote for a fps cap, that’s a shallow solution for a deeper problem. But a strong look at their modded code will be necessary at some point.
