Get rid of levels or add option to hide level. I'm done with this game.. for now..

To the kids saying I have no life, I answer I have a job and a girl.[/quote]

Haha I see this way too often. Most of my team are around level 100, and there’s one twelvie guy who brands us as no life virgins, jobless bums, who live in our parents basements. Oh we’re also poor, because DB is a free to play game and apparently only poor people choose to main free to play games.

(aminuseternal) #22

Has there been any other game with this kind of problem? I have never encountered it before outside of DB. but if I remember right, CMM hides your level, but then again, I don’t know why they can’t just hide it now and put out a hotfix for it.

Because SD are lazy. Does anyone know why they didn’t remove levels from the leader board when they removed them from the lobby?

maybe the levels are needed for the shuffle in-game

maybe if SD let us reduce our level we might finally end the discrimination.

The levels aren’t needed for shuffling as they’ve stated they use a hidden value based on player’s score/performance over the last several games. Even if they were needed for a shuffle, there is still no reason that it would be mandatory for players to see these levels for it to function.

Also, I didn’t make this thread to attack the Devs. Saying things like “they are lazy”, etc is just as bad as people attacking high level players. Its just some person claiming things they don’t really know, about people they don’t really know.

They aren’t lazy, it just hasn’t been a priority for some reason. I think they just don’t understand how bad it can get sometimes. They’ve got a great game on their hands due to hard work, not laziness.

I just wish they could understand why people want these levels hidden.

Hell, I’d even settle for having some servers with hidden levels.

Nah. I think a few people asked what the point of only doing it in lobby was but they didn’t respond if my memory serves me correctly.

Tbh I’d also like to see some global leaderboards, if that could even be done. Kinda like how masteroverwatch works, how it records all your stats (accuracies with characters/weapons and in general, score/min, kills/min, objective time and all that kinda jazz. Would be pretty cool.

Most people using “omg level 150 in your team, nice balance” or even “that level 150 sucks balls” are mostly refusing to cope with the idea that dirty bomb is a demanding game, whoever you are. They’re just hiding behind this.

You don’t see this often in other games because in db, you’ll definitely need to have spent a fair amount of time to get as good as any long time player. And the only way is to play. In bf or cod, if you’re well awake, game time won’t make any difference except for map knowledge.

On the contrary, you won’t see this in tribes ascend for example, because the proper gameplay is obviously tough enough and people not understanding the basics of it won’t stay longer than 5 hours in it. Dirty bomb toughness is more hidden and that’s why those cod/bf kiddos don’t cope with the fact that you can be better than them or sometimes failing because it’s a bad day.

I’ve personally seen similar issues in chivalry medieval warfare, but to way lower extent, as newcomers/casual players had the official servers to play on and vets always went on community ones. You split the community in different categories thus avoid meeting each other 24/7, but those categories are still communicating (people catching well with the game always went for community servers at the end) and remain united.

nice
karma system…

i just noticed this the other night the team is very unbalanced but after shuffle (people said it gets worse) it went draw.

i think this hidden numbers works…

Frankly when people bitch about my rank I just kill them even more in hilarious ways while taunting them to make them go maximum rage overdrive

(GatoCommodore) #30

I usually tell them “I’m an unemployed virgin”, which also works pretty well in making them shut up.

Ofc he did! He spams since september… I type here rarely, but always when I come to see what’s going on here, he has spammed all the topics with not one, but few meaningless cartoons or what ever.
He has 1000+ posts and I know 800+ of those are complete spam! It will take me days to mark them all, but it seems you can’t get moderation in here! This guy is worse than steam discussions spammer…

What’s the real criteria for spam? If that guy is still here, this means this post of mine is not spam at all…

First of all, I’m all in for replacing overall levels entirely with some much more fitting system for a heavily class based, team-oriented FPS like this. Levels accumulated simply by playtime has absolutely zero place here, it works for RPG’s and such for obvious reasons.

I must however agree they allow very rough estimation on players experience (I am not talking about skill here, someone can play 400h without learning anything else than suicide-Proxy sh!trushing onto EV without being any asset to team) which sometimes compare, albeit again roughly, to their actual experience and skill. This is probably the reason SD has yet to do anything about them, because they allow some level of approximation of what kind of opponent one is facing. It has been easy way of implementing it, and showing peoples total playtime in-game. Thing is we’d just need something better and more fitting now.

Its not that they don’t know how to remove them or can’t, its that they won’t until they have thought something else in place. We can all agree we’d like to keep some kind of loyalty reward in place like Arsenal crates now, eh? Those would also need rework would levels be entirely removed, on how to accumulate them, just one example alongside rough skill estimation.

Issue is also godawful imbeciles that games all over are swarming nowadays, people who refuse to accept the fact somebody is better than them or something else than they themselves can be at fault when loss is faced. “Minigun is OP”. “Balance is shit”. “Map sucks”. Anything else is wrong than them when they decided to be the 4th useless spawn-sitting sniper when team lacked both medics and firesupport.

Those people are the ones bitching about levels, those people just find another thing to whine about. But reworking levels would mean they’d have to more actively search for the thing instead of just opening scoreboard and blaming the first thing they see there, so it would definitely lessen this idiotism.

I personally would find visibly removing levels for now would definitely be great gesture, but I doubt it’d happen so gonna mute the entire chat in pubs for now.

(DirtyDav) #39

All this philosophy and shit about insecure people who can’t imagine there’s someone better than them/don’t have anything better to do than complain…good stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

tbh I personally like being called out for having no life, and it’s fun to watch the 13 year olds bitch-spam the chat about how I’m a piece of shit. Then I make fun of them at the end when they bottomscore and they ragequit.

But seriously, while I respect your choice to leave snake, I honestly think you’re overreacting; they’re just annoying lil’ scrubshits, not really worth getting pissed off over.

On the other hand, I think there should be a way to hide your level for those that really want to, just like k/d is hidden during a match.

As for another system, idk: what would become of our hard-earned level status? Say what you will, but I like to be able to say I’m level 88.

(AlphaUT) #40

First of all, I personally don’t care about hiding the level or not. Haven’t really have this problem since the beginning of my Dirty Bomb life. If I see someone is crying about something, that’s related to me. I would have two different reactions. First is ignored it. Second reaction is I will start a chat war with him that makes him rage quit or quite.

Just based on my curiosity, Is there any FPS game without Level or Rank system ?
