The devs recorded the audio from 30+ REAL GUNS! check out the "minds on the brink video for FOOTAGE OF THEM RECORDING!
Game Sounds are Pew Pew, Not Bang Bang
mine goes Brap Brap.
And if they did record the best sounds for these guns it should be good enough. if anything one should complain about the latest Rage weapon Demo. That shotgun goes pew pew, not blam blam like it did back in Quake.
But they even admitted that they edited the sounds after recording, such as adding a “lion roar” to the shotguns.
Or “god’s cough” to the sniper rifle.
I still think the sounds need to have more BOOM effect if you know what i mean. Currently, the smg’s sound all treble and no bass.
There was a link above to someone shooting an Avtomat 9A91 and to be honest it sounded as trebly as any of the Choir of Guns sounds.
While I find a couple of the weapon sfx not personally appealing, what SD have got is a huge step up from their previous games’ sfx.
One thing I’ll credit the halo series for is keeping pew pew alive. I love classic projectile ‘laser’ sfx.
Speaking of classic, df2 m249 is still one of my favorite game sfx.
So homosexuality is supposed to just imply inferiority. When something is “gay” everyone in the room should just know that means lowest quality or worst appeal. Anything outside of 1950’s nuclear family values is obviously a threat to society. Single parents must be the worst individuals because their offspring can only be criminal-bound. Anyone with a tattoo or piercing is a Satanist. Because this perception of a perfect family unit totally existed and still widely exists in 99.9% of households.
“Jorge wants to be hardcore, but his mom won’t let him.”
Obviously, you hate gay wimpy crap, so you must be the machoest guy around. No masculinity issues whatsoever as long as media can keep making you feel like a real man.
I’m not really here to argue, just revealing a perspective that may benefit towards recognizing a professional attitude in the workforce. Go ahead and use freedom of speech, but realize what it is exactly you’re saying and how some might interpret it. I’m not personally offended but am annoyed at how common this is used.
You’re a very good man. It’s hard for people to take stands in any form. Agreeably, its annoying and toolish as it offensive.
Back on topic, the guns do sound metallic. I like it.
didnt Chris Sweetman, the audio director, rent a quarry in Nevada, set up a buttload of mics, and capture the sounds of 30+ REAL guns for the game?
Yes? oh ok
Yes, he also added in some non gun noises to flesh them out. I remember hearing that he put part of a lion roar recording into one of the guns.
But for the most part, they used freshly recorded audio; using newer, more precise sounding guns for the Security; and older models that sound more mechanical for the Resistance.
The point being that the gunshots are REAL gunshots, with other noises added to make them sound more exciting, because gunshots in real life are pretty boring, just very loud. They sound like firecrackers until you get into the larger rounds.
Edit: Take a look at these completely unsuppressed rifles
or an uzi, both suppressed and not

You just have to love the animation of that building as it collapses.
If its not pure server only (which I doubt) feel free to do your own “realistic” soundpack
Yup, that was me.

Pretty hot though, I’d love to have one of these.
