FPS Struggles..

That is exactly why i want to go with AMD… This is NOT primarily a gaming rig, in fact rendering animations and encoding comes first… Multiple cores are better for that. If i wanted a rig just for gaming i would definitely go for skylake, but now gaming is just something i do when im not animating… Recording game play requires encoding too, and i want to stream/record to make montages to boast to friends about that one godlike i got with Skyhammer, or that 82/5 k/d i got with Fletcher. But if you can prove that an i5 from the Skylake line is better for this than please do so! And i was thinking about Gigabyte board, but they are all cheap and that put me off. But if they really are reliable than ill get one. Thanks!

Hmm… @Amerika I have done some reading up… If i change my board/cpu will i have to reinstall my operating system? I know not for cpu, i went from an old athlon to this phenom all those years back without reinstalling (but of course i upgraded to win10 recently) But for my board… Will it be fine if i just install the drivers for the new one? From my research its usually fine unless you change socket, which is what i’m doing. But in other places i read you only reinstall for good mesure, and just for a nice fresh system… I REALLY dont want to reinstall, mostly because i cant afford another windows key. You seem very good with this stuff so your opinion on this would mean a lot!

I’m not going to try and convince you. You can read benchmarks between the processors and decide for yourself. There are tons of benchmarks for gaming and non-gaming applications that are multi-core intensive. Pick what is best for you.

Most of the time you’re fine. Back in the day you’d run into issues with HAL (hardware application layer). But that hasn’t been much of an issue since before win7. It’s advisable to refresh your OS but most likely it’s not going to be required. But, be prepared for it and do proper backups.

The only issue you might run into is with Win10 licensing which might require you to either call into MS or simply re-add your Win10 license you have. If you’re on an OEM copy of Win10 you might run into issues since OEM copies do not let you change major hardware. So be aware of that too.

Alright. Yea lately MS Hasn’t been the best on Customer Service. Thanks for the heads up!

As for hardware i think im going with an FX-8300 paired with an Asus M5A78L, and a Cryorig HD Ultimate cooler…
