If you ever used a real gun you know that this muzzle flash is simply oversized.[/QUOTE]

Now that I think about it your totally right! Their heads are pretty misshapen too, wait actually everything doesn’t look realistic at all. I’m starting to think this game isn’t real…

cant wait for this game! i want to reserve 1 place in SD clan in advance

Nice pics imo. I like the black dudes fro.
And the guy on the ground in pic 16, looks like hes got a Mini Hyper. Awesome.

(Ryan) #24

I lolled

I effin’ love the art style! Though the background is still Container City, the characters, the textures, the customization is fantastic! I love it!

(and I am in the middle of composing an entire essay justifying things like “oversized” gun flash. I plan to inflict it upon y’all within a day or two. lol)

You mean like this? http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2030689&postcount=2

Although I’ll side with the fact it’s a game and big boom boom is good.

as far as I can tell it’s actually the same gun as the one held by the middle guy in 17.

And in pic 1, 2, 3, 6, and 14.

Finally have a chance to sit down and examine them. They look like hand-painted pictures. Unbelievably beautiful!

Not it’s not, it obscures your view and can be quite off putting and this was just with the muzzle flashes that were in ET and ET:QW, can only imagine how much worse it will be with the ones in Brink. Mop did say they since changed it, though didnt think to ask changed to what exactly

Actually they seem less distracting than in both ET and ETQW.

Aargh! blokes in shorts. averting eyes now.
Im still not interested in this. It could be the slight comic book style.
In the end ill try it and see how it plays bottom line.
these dont tell me out.

well, although im a hardcore fan of brink already, i have to say one negative thing.

you see, especially on screenshot 017.jpg, that its actually hard to differentiate the two factions. there are two guys from opposing factions, but both have face paintings. all of the 3 guys have blueish pants and blank arms. in generel all of the 3 look pretty darkish.

this was already criticized by some people when the gameplay videos were released. now you can see it even more.

i just hope the graphical diversity of the two factions will be optimized till release or you guys over at splash damage find a different way to make sure i shoot the right guys. (nameplates above friendly faction players, no nameplates for enemies?!)

and one suggestion that just came through my mind: character costumization is great, but… when you play, all you see is your gun! i hope there will be as much visual (no functional) diversity for guns as for characters.

and one question: is that muzzle flash realtime or photoshoped?

already february … waahhh, looking forward to brink :stroggtapir:

Maybe they’ll have another way to tell factions apart, like your crosshairs turn red when over an enemy. I always thought enemies in games should have like a slight red outline, or hue to them, so you know a badguy when you see one.

Legitimate concern, though I am glad they are not taking Valve’s route and going all RED and BLU. lol I would rather risk shooting a few friendlies, than have to look at orange all day.

Nameplates can be problematic because even in a game as polished as MW2, they don’t always pop-up when they should.

::goes back to rewatch the container videos::

If it’s a muzzle flash (few FPS) I don’t see it as any different from other negatives imposed on shooting like accuracy changes. Use a pistol like a machine pistol you get penalised with poorer visibility.

well, im more the oldschool fan. i like red and blue

and i think nameplates go into the right direction. there might be some programmers that can optimize that mw2 issue that i dont really know or care about.

mw2 is a totally hyped and overpriced “addon” for mw1, imho. nothing more than a product begging for your fat ass dirty dollar. so, shut up and buy … (this is a lyric from a tool song, nothing personal  )

but dont let this mw2 discussion start here. i really dont care about that game.

I believe the type of gear you get will create a noticeable distinction. Security has more formal and full gear, while resistance has wife beaters and junk duck taped together .

(light_sh4v0r) #39

Well yes that’s in theory, but it’s not what you see in that screenshot which is why he posted this.

I don’t find them very hard to identify
