#playKira.

@neverplayserious Phoenix is more of a Sparks alternative on maps where the REVIVR isn’t optimal.

But the reviver is optimal on any map and if you think it isn’t, it’s time to get gud.

(SzGamer227) #23

@neverplayserious: That’s exactly what someone who mains Sawbonez would say. You obviously don’t have experience/competence with Phoenix to judge how effective he is. A good Phoenix can mach a Sawbonez in healing, and Phoenix does a lot less time writhing on the ground waiting for a bystander or another medic to pick him up.

As for why you think that Sawbonez is better to have helping you in a fight, I can’t even guess. 10 more hp does not make up for an immediate heal anywhere between 40 and 80 health to everyone involved while taking fire while still providing backup with one of the three best SMGs in the game. You can expect Sawbonez to give you nil except for some bullets. You might as well have a Phantom helping you out. At least he has refractive armor.

Of the eight points I brought up in my previous post, you only acknowledged three. You’re going to have to try harder than that if you want to convince anyone of anything.

@Incoming: Phoenix isn’t really comparable to Sparks (actually, no medic is); Sparks is a glass medic with unmatchable revive potential but garbage healing. I guess they can both heal teammates directly while under fire, but even so, Phoenix’s healing and reviving capability is more similar to Sawbonez than it is to Sparks.

(Icecoal) #25

@SzGamer227 sawbonez is still the better medic , you seem to be pretty biased towards Phoenix. 12sec cool down is huge , I can’t count how many times I waited for a heal from a Phoenix because it was on cd while sawbonez throws his packs like candy. How often is you team btw clutching together , to benefit from the aoe heal ? Phoenix is good solo but like sparks he can’t heal his team as good as sawbonez or aura. Not saying he is bad , both have their cons and pros. #Bushwhacko ftw

(Matuno) #26

To be fair though, Phoenix can grant in-fight health recovery, to the entire surrounding team. That’s a pretty big deal when pushing.

Sawbonez is targeted, interruptable, and has pretty massive cooldowns on his own medpacks too.

Depends on the situation, like it should.

Phoenix is so bad that I really hope Vassili wins. Gonna keep him in my squad all week.

I want Bushy or Vassili. Bushy obviously has no chance.

No one seems to ever mention Phoenix as one of those noob mercs that doesn’t contribute, but he definitely is. His healing ability has a long cooldown and takes time to charge up. He’s essentially a lone-wolf medic. I’ve noticed it a lot. Most Phoenix players have no idea what their job is: to heal and revive.

Please Vassili. Please win!

Doesn’t contribute? Long cooldown? Time to charge up? I’ve gotten 17k xp Objective games playing only Phoenix, bouncing around from teammate to teammate. And yes, 80% of that xp is support xp, I can’t shoot for crap. I’ll give you the cooldown one cough cough. The time to charge up and potentially heal (keyword potentially) 8 teammates instantly (INSTANTLY) is better in my opinion than the time it takes to throw 3 med packs with healing that could be interrupted.

But the reviver is optimal on any map and if you think it isn’t, it’s time to get gud.[/quote]Except Sparks isn’t very powerful when gibs come out quickly, especially in comps where there are fewer bodies to worry about. Sometimes your push locations don’t have enough cover to let downed players get time while the REVIVR shot picks them up, but more importantly, your three man group often needs the extra muscle and instant heal power Phoenix provides.

Assuming the combo + medic, engi, whatevs standard, Phoenix replaces Sparks and the three person team becomes more independent and more aggressive. It does work and I’ve seen it done a few times in scrims. Admittedly, I’m usually Fragger so I don’t get to see it in action all the time, but the three person group usually handles firefights better with a Phoenix around.

Better a Vassili obsidian and a phoenix obsidian than 2 of phoenix, even if they are different. So, I hate to say it, but #teamVassili

(Teflon Love) #35

Phoenix with the mechanic perk is like a chameleon. He can heal, fight and defuse/repair depending on the situation. And he can switch between these roles within a fraction of a second. While he doesn’t excel at anything, he’s pretty decent at everything. He’s best when he’s deep down and dirty pushing with the rest of the team close by. He rewards an agile play style and situational awareness.

I rarely actually play Phoenix, but when I do, I find him pretty enjoyable.

Thank you Americas for pushing Phoenix at no.1 spot again. It’s still 29-29, but when I was going to sleep Vasslili was #1 and now Phoenix is back! Shame the numbers are rounded and we can’t see exact values.

(XavienX) #40

Well since I’m a Vassili main and I don’t have his founders or Closed Beta Obsidians, I’m outtie on this :stuck_out_tongue:
