The list has nothing to do with the card you’re going to get. The card is determined as you open the case. The animation is just an animation and it will always end on the card the case had already determined you were going to get. Watching it is pretty pointless as you never had a chance at getting anything else.

Even still, I have found similarities where if a cobalt card shows up in the first 4-7 cards, a different cobalt card usually shows up again near the selected card, and if there isn’t a card in the first 4-7, I don’t see one near the selected card. Although I haven’t had the cobalt luck from an equipment case yet, I have won golds and silvers and did notice that the card of the same rarity was located in that same general area in the beginning.

I’m not saying it directly affects the outcome, but it’s more along the lines of a prediction of what the system has chosen for you before you are told.
