Find the hidden word!

(-SSF-Sage) #161

Waitress, could I have one TITL, please.

(shagileo) #162

Har Har Har xD
laugh all you want, I found the hidden word :stroggbanana:
Is TITL some kind of beer or so?

(Wezelkrozum) #163
pfff… I only get TITL
or TTIL

TITL actually has a meaning:

:D
The first and the last characters are right:D and the second character is at the wrong place.

(Zer0Cool) #164

hm, but is it a english word? (It’s not a rule, but before we are searching years …)

btw, nice to see this game is still alive ^^

(shagileo) #165

Then my guess would be ‘Teil’ as in German

(Wezelkrozum) #166

almost right.

(shagileo) #167

Grrr it’s TAIL of course

(Wezelkrozum) #168

lol
CONGRATULATIONS SHAGILEO! After 3 weeks somebody has it right:tongue:

>->-> You are next >->->

(shagileo) #169

:stroggbanana: yeeeeeey

:o me next?

eh :o :o maybe someone else wants to make a ‘FTHW’ map?

(aaa3) #170

pff pure guesswork without actually finding it in map ;/

(shagileo) #171

I actually thought about the word …

I mean, people are looking and looking for the word (IF they are searching), and after three weeks no result.
With the tips and results of previous attempts , mainly by zerOcool, I could do some puzzle work.

I learned that the order of the colors set up the order of the characters:
color system:

red orange yellow green blue indigo violet (white)

there were 4 rooms :

1 red, 1 green, 1 white and 1 blue:

red orange yellow green blue indigo violet B

Then ZeroCool found the following:

That means the word is 4 Characters long?

clockwise from spawn…
First room is a T or F
second room, the two lightbeams are a U or V?
3rd room, in textures folder it says L ? :stuck_out_tongue:
and 4th room, it says “another one” so another L ?
FULL? :X I don’t think so because the texture folder says T instead of F but TULL is no word…

For red room he found:
red: T
blue: wrong
white: L
green: wrong

Later on I learned (and not only by my “wild” guessing… I actually thought it was wild … ) the letter “I” was in the word too.
Either blue or green was an “I”
Combining my previous knowledge:

red … green …blue… white
T… I? … I? … L

Then when ZerOcool asked the prominent question: is it an english word?:
my though of the word ‘Teil’ could actually be right. It was the only possibility to add an extra vowel: a -e-i-o-u (Y)
so the only possibilities:
1: TAil
2: TEil
3. TIil
4. TOil
5. TUil
(6. TYil)

only 1 and 2 where actually possible:
so I thought it could be a German word: Teil
Since Wezel said: almost, then I knew it was Tail of course.

NO guessing or whatsoever, just using common sense
Besides, the word could never be found in the map actually

(Nail) #172

meh, I’ll take being lucky over hard work anytime

Besides, the word could never be found in the map actually
Red room: a blue T at one rock

Green room: falling gives you the message “another one”. One stands for the first character of the word. And that is A. (A-nother)

Blue room: The red laser projects an I on the floor.

White room: Going to the end of the room shows an message: “Sometimes there is something behind it”. And what’s behind a texture what you can’t actually see in game? An alpha-channel. So you look for something what has to do with the transparant channel of a texture. And when you open the tga-file of the white image obove the rooms entry in photoshop, you can see it has an alpha channel in it where the character L is drawn.

So everything of the word is in the pk3 file.

(shagileo) #174

Then you need

a: photoshop
b: cheat and open the pk3 anyways (so the letter with photoshop can’t be found in the map  )

but ok nvm

(Pande) #175

how did he make an alpha channel different from the red green blue channels merged? in ps and gimp i can only ever say erase something and that becomes the alpha part, but i can’t assign like a different alpha than the rest of the image, otherwise the red green blue area becomes erased when i switch back to them. its been buggin me a while, any tutorials? actually, before tutorials, what would its uses be? xD thanks

(aaa3) #176

@shag nice, ill have to withdraw my earlier post  @wezel… hm… yeah pk3 ./ next time we will have to hex view bsp, reverse a wav and slowen it to half to hear 666 etc… i just mean all the erlier maps were solvable by being in the game

(stealth6) #177

could you maybe rephrase the question I don’t understand

(Pande) #178

How do you make an alpha channel different from the visual bits of the image? If I were to make a certain part in alpha channel clear and invisible, ingame I would see black if I saved as .tga and applied without a shader, and the black would be where I erased and the rest of the texture would show around it.

(Wezelkrozum) #179

Goto the tab channels and make a new channel (the same button when you make a new layer). The new layer has the name Alpha. And that’s the alpha-channel:wink:

(Zer0Cool) #180

shagileo will you do a new one?
