Female Avatar Inclusion?

(Crytiqal) #21

Thanks, they are obviously just place holders for now since I am still building the website.

Also, try a better browser and please don’t distance yourself from the original topic by picking on someones personal work

PS: if that is the worst you have to say about it then I guess im pretty safe

i was keeping your comment on sarcasm relevant

(Crytiqal) #23

My comment of sarcasm was towards the redirect link from tokamak to the bethesda forums and he thanked him for it

no female characters is the reason there is super “customobility”

(SIiced Bread) #25

Q: Will there be female characters in Brink?
A: In short: no. Like all developers, Splash Damage faced physical limits on what they could put into the game and had to make the “incredibly tough” choice between massively reducing the variety and quality of character customization in order to make room for new models/animations for female characters, or to keep to their vision of “deep and varied” character creation by focusing only male customization and make that the best they possibly can. “This was a very, very hard decision for us to make”, Ham explains, “but we feel that it was the right one for the overall quality of the game.”

That is your answer.

So you went ahead, found the reasons said by them. And now are asking for the reasons again?

I like how they say this thread is a waste of time and yet here they are in it. No females because SD is not laezy. If they did this they would do it right, meaning they would not just cut copy and paste every thing the guys have on to the females. They would do it right and truely give the female there own stuff cuting all the guy stuff in half because of the space it would take up on disc format.

(Crytiqal) #28

I like how you explain what Ham said

(BuzzNot.V1) #29

indeed i did.

(Shadedluck) #30

Oh god that made me laugh. But it’s true.

lol, Tokamak.

(Breo) #32

What about a female hostage (just an idea for future maps).
I think it’s not as complicated as a playable character

(McAfee) #33

What about those “fashionista” models they already have around the maps. It’s just a matter of using these as concept art.

I’m thinking they can be offered as-is. Meaning you get the female avatar, but “for now” you are restricted to minimal customization options.

Specifically:

  • only the light body type (maybe medium too?)
  • 2 Faces (as I’ve only seen 2 fashionista models)
  • you can still get the skin tone changes.
  • they hair styles will probably have to be female specific
  • whatever can be scaled from the male “light” model.

I’m thinking of a slim style body type. So think fashion model body type, not swimsuit model bodytype. If you know what I mean. That makes things easier.

Clothing will probably be a subset of the “light” model, not all. If I’m not mistaken, girls in the military don’t get any special uniforms, they use the same uniforms as everyone else.

If in doubt, just look at the fashionista posters around the game.

The voice acting would probably be the most complicated part. How about a contest? And the community would be happy the voice was picked from the community. And if there a few good ones, then you can even pick multiple winners and have a few voices in there.

Dwarfs! Why are there no dwarfs damn it!?

(Maawdawg) #35

This has already been covered quite extensively (with responses from the devs) and there are many other threads on the subject.
