Feedback on the nVidia 460 GTX

Two of those came with the video card. The Dell power supplies don’t have enough cables with those white connectors.

you mean that even with these adapters you wouldn’t have enough cable to plug in your card?

I think it would be better if the OP could provide us the exact name/ID of the PSU (what is written on the sticker) :slight_smile:

then we would be able to Google it and see its wattage, its factory, its +12V capacity, its connectors… and give somewhat-accurate technical support =)

Just a warning to people looking to upgrade their video cards, the newest nVidia cards require a ridiculous amount of power. There aren’t even enough power cables coming from my power supply to fit all the plugs in this new card!

They really aren’t that bad dude, and I have 2 480’s. Just know what you’re getting into, which is sound advice under any circumstance.

That’s exactly my point. I need to use both of them which means I need 4 free cables and that just doesn’t exist on the Dell power supplies.

You need to get a couple 4-pin molex splitter cables

That’s what I meant by a “splitter”:

[QUOTE=Jimmy James;336882]You mean like a splitter?

The other problem is that if I put the new card into my wife’s computer I would want to switch out my 8600 GT for her old 9800 GTX but now I don’t think my computer’s power supply could even handle that card.

I think I’ll just play it safe and build a new custom rig that I know will be upgradeable in the future.
