ETScript v0.6 released! - UPDATES!!!

(Flippy) #21

Another huge change! I think I’m going to have to bring out a new version for download soon lol… But not yet! Still a few minor problems that need to be solved…

Anyway, this time I decided I wanted to get rid of the entire treeview that was clogging up the already very full screen… I thought about it and decided to add it in a seperate window.
A few cool things are added to this window though…
For example, you have the ability to make the Treeview window “Sticky”. It will then stick to the main window even when you drag the main window around, so it still feels as though it is part of the main window, even when you have the option to put it somewhere else!
As soon as you drag the Treeview window seperately, it will “Unsticky”.
There is also a shortcut (Ctrl+R) for “Make Sticky”.

Also, both Treeviews (Scripting Reference and Entity Import (previously Scriptname/Targetname import) ) are now in the same window, under a Tabcontrol. So you can easily switch.

A few other minor changes include:

  • Ability to resize windows without the annoying flicking effect when you hit the minimumsize.

  • Ability to resize the new Treeview window, allowing the Usage and Description labels to stretch and show more text.

  • Option to turn Syntax Highlighting off if desired.

  • Other things I forgot…

Looks very good.
Great work.

Big news…

I have currently stopped all work on ETScript 1. The errors and bugs kept getting more and more and worse and worse and I couldn’t cope with it… I guess it’s going to stay at v0.6.
The problems ranged from bugs in ETScript itself (things that have been working perfectly like Undo and the syntax highlighting suddenly didn’t work anymore…) and from VB6 crashing on me all the time. I know why it happens (I’m using subclassing), it’s just that you can’t do anything about it… I hate it!

BUT

I have started work on ETScript 2! I am starting all from scratch, coding it on a different language (VB.NET instead of VB6) which is MUCH more flexible (just look at the screens  ) and also much more complex, meaning it will probably take some while till the first beta’s will arrive :p. Don’t expect anything too soon… But I will be steadily working on this from time to time… I don’t have alot of free time, but I will try to do as much as I can!

Anyway enough babbling… I just wanted to show you some screens of what I did so far and what has been the reason for restarting ETScript 2…! Note, I did not create all of this myself… The office 2007 look and ribbon is created by a plugin which fully integrates with VB.NET… Great stuff! After I got my hands on this plugin I have been working on this for only 30 mins orso… (it even came with a nice number of samples, including a document editor!).

Anyway… Here are the screen:

1: As you can see, a few of the default functions have been put in the Ribbon Bar already. Everything looks and feels like Office 2007.

2: Nice little menu which will probably get to host a few more functions…

3: You can even change the color scheme to anything you like, like a pretty pink!

Look out for it!

This deserves a thumps up!

I always meant to try this thing out. I’ve been using the Crimson editor with a RTCW color syntax setup. It does a pretty good job, but not all of the syntax highlights properly and I never could figure out how to modify it. I also heavily rely on the multiple tabs open docs and this didn’t look like it supported that.

The bugs also kind of scared me away. But I think I’ll take a look at version 6 and check out some of the other features you put in that I know I’ll like.

Version 0.6 doesn’t have any huge bugs that I know about. It’s not perfect, not by far, but imo it does help you QUITE alot while scripting! I only needed like a tenth of the usual keystrokes here, since the intellisense pops up automatically and you can just press enter and there’s your keyword.

Update… I managed to get the syntax highlighting working again after a hard night work ^^
Also put some line numbering in.

I got version 6 to work once, but everytime I try to run it now I get this error where it can’t find a path to a file called tb_new.jpg in my Documents and Settings directory. Then it crashes.

So I’ll just wait until you have your new one ready for release.

ha. Nevermind. I thought I drug a shortcut to my desktop but I actually made a copy of the .exe file instead. It didn’t like that. Running the correct exe file works fine.

(Flippy) #30

Yeah that can happen. It looks for files in the “Application.Path” which is the path of the exe file, so if you move the exe file it won’t work :stuck_out_tongue:

You…are…a…god.

No. Sorry. I am not. :stuck_out_tongue:
