hmm, I could need some help with the teleporter…
I created already a teleporter with the effect… I want that the teleporting effect should be only visible when u go throug the teleporter. The effect should stay maybe 1 or 2 seconds and disappear then again. The teleporting itself works fine. The only problem is the effect. I tried to avoid a script but it seems like it´s necessery. Could someone help me with the script? I thought about a script_mover and triggerzone… any ideas?

WeedFreak, is the only reason you signed up for this forum was to bother the people who were trying to give Maggumaster feedback and to bug Maggumaster to hurry up? I bet if you tried to make a map like this you’d get frustrated and give up within days. >_> I know I would. I know how hard mapping is and I think what Maggumaster has done is amazing. He created all those textures afaik by himself.

But shouldn’t the Flanders’s house should be next to the Simpsons. Is that a police station?

Also, looking at the ceilings of the inside of the buildings, the lighting looks sort of strange. It’s like you made the ceiling detail, but forgot to add caulk hulling?

Otherwise it looks great and looks really cartoony! I think I posted here before but my feedback wasn’t that… thorough.

i have said i DO NOT make maps as it looks very complex and i just dont have the time or the patience to learn and in NO way have a said that maggumaster has not done a great job…he has done a excellent job i would say this will be one of the best et maps ever made

Where do u see the simpsons house on the screenshots?
It is next to Flanders house, but even this one is not shown on the screens.

and could someone please explain me what a caulk hulling is? How can u see what´s detail and what´s not? I thought that´s only important for better vis-blocking and has no effect on lightmap and so on…

I believe (not sure though) that a good caulk hull, by creating good VIS, speeds up lighting because lighting depends heavily on the VIS data to process each ray of light to each texel.
As far as I’m aware, the idea of a caulk hull is that only the hull is structural, and the rest is detail.

What I tend to do is map for a bit, then filter caulk (thereby removing all brushes made entirely of caulk), inverting (to select everything that remains) and making them detail. Then reverse the above to make all the all caulk brushes structural. Some people use a different editor texture for caulk hull (as opposed to normal caulk on detail brushes) but I’ve never really seen the need.

tbh I’m not an expert on the caulk hulling thing, I just like how it speeds up -vis compile times. I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere it affects the lightmap. Maybe there’s some other weirdness affecting the lighting… anyway it’s not too major. BTW I guess that wasn’t the Simpsons house, hold on a second and I will show you a screenshot of what I took to be the Simpsons’…

I guess it’s not.
