Whops… (16??? There are only 6 Spawns per Side)

Goldorak Rocks, mail me the Model :).
I think the Aliles need a ED-209 at this side. It’s heavy with 2 MG’s at the Fortress.
Not it’s fun idea !! too bad but …

Ok… at this Place, i think, i build a little Bunker, an old Wall or a Tower with a constructible MG. There come also still more hides. Details like Stones & Trees at last.

Yes… here IS a Spawn Piont and a Flag (unter the Terrain). Just not scriptet, yet. Next Beta!

I already had the idea. Now there is a Bridge. Take a look at the Screenshot

great map congratulation !
Thank you!
Goldorak :disgust: more power for victory with “Lazer and fulguropoint”

but i love your picture

Did this ever go final? Yes, I know this is a major bump and I waited for awhile to do so, but after the Simpsons bump, what’s the harm?

I liked this map, from my time testing it out, though I don’t think I ever saw it on a server, at least not one Stateside or in Canada. You still around Gadler? Went to the site listed in your profile and can’t read a damn thing to navigate my way around.
Have a few suggestions to improve it (like having the water not take off health, what’s up with that?) and then a simple translation into English and would love to give this map a home. Let me know, thanks.
long time no hear from gadler… also in the german mapping forums… if he isn’t answering, i’ll write him a mail… if i’ll find his e-mail address hidden somewhere on my old computer
Problem is, I have pretty much zero understanding of German and the only thing on the site he listed, that I can understand is talking about Gameboy Advanced and a couple other things that have nothing to do with ET. I appreciate any help.
IMHO this site has nothing in common with mapping except the author :-/ maybe his interest shifted towards GaymBoys or whatever…
however, there is a contact e-mail, so you can drop him a line or two… ATM I don’t have access to my old computer (due to a 200km distance between me and that old box) therefore I cannot verify if it is the same e-mail that I have saved in my contacts folder.
Thanks Cooper for your assistance, I have gotten in contact with him. He’s currently mapping for Call of Duty, among other projects, such as that site. I’ll most likely be posting more about this map in the next day or two. I’ll keep you posted.
I’m spoken to Gadler and he has given me permission to finish his map and make various different versions if I should choose. Work has begun on the third beta version of Eisfaust. It will retain the same name once the new version comes out (Eisfaust Festung).
There will most likely be two versions of the map (one with Swastikas, one without), going for realism…both versions will be converted to English only (not including various posters and signage obviously) The objectives, map description, script, everything, with the exception of the map name, at Gadler’s request.
There will be a minimum time limit set, though like other dual objective maps (Den of Lions for instance), one team will still need to win in order to advance to the next map. We will also be adding more spawn entities to allow for more players. Currently as someone else brought up and Gadler confirmed, 12 players is the max. That will change in the next Beta.
Private testing is in progress on the Beta 2 version, and we might host a public testing of Gadler’s Beta 2 to attain some more ideas from the public, I’ll post here when that happens, but some things that have already been fixed include, but are not limited to:
In the Beta 2 version, you could climb the mountains and get into the base through the launch silo, by jumping from the mountains, onto the roof. While we are going to keep the mountain climbing option intact, for good sniper options and realism, a new invisible wall will be blocking access to the roof of the silo, in order to prevent a backdoor plant.
There was also a slight problem with people grabbing hold of an mg within Axis base and being transported either in or outside when they let go of it. MG has been moved back a little, problem solved.
MG’s will be added to the watchtowers, where it makes sense to do so (i.e. by the document cabin).
The ammo and health racks in the Axis base, will most likely be moved, as the current placement promotes rambos camping the base wall and making it almost impossible for a small team of allies to plant.
In an effort to promote realism, an mg nest will be added on the bridge. This will be a dual mg emplacement. Axis pointing towards the checkpoint, Allied pointing towards base. A broken down truck or halftrack will serve as cover and a potential chokepoint for Allies. Will add some hedgehogs and barbed wire near river edge along Axis side.
Thinking about adding a generator as a secondary objective along with a cabin in the open area next to the Axis base and possibly some power lines in the water. We’ll see how that goes.
“News on The March”, WWII Reel Type News (audio) to describe the map and it’s objectives. Possible audio of readme file as well and special thank yous (if not, a longer, more detailed text readme file).
Things we wish we could do, but will probably make it too large: Allied paratrooper drop from C-47. This will probably have to wait until our next map, if not the one after that.
I would appreciate any opinions on these and any suggestions or things you might like to see in the map.
To the person who commented about file size being an issue, obviously great mappers like Drakir aren’t concerned about things like that, but want to go for realism and quality. The more you have of both of those, the more popular your map is going to be, regardless of size. Too many people keep their maps very small, with little to no interaction and make them a chore to play, not our group. We are on no set time table and will not be rushing this project, when we are happy with it, we’ll be releasing the new version, but I wouldn’t expect anything for at least a couple of months.
Feel free to comment.
We’d love to here your suggestions or thought about your ideas. WE could really use the help. Thanks.

Totally untrue. You should be very concerned about filesize because you’re forcing people to host and download your files, it can impact map performance, and in extreme cases, affects whether the map will actually run. Also, filesize is no indicator of quality and IMO, realism often leads to poor gameplay. Also IMO, you may be setting yourself up for a lot of extra work if you plan to make multiple versions of the map
Well, I don’t think it’ll be huge by any means, this particular map should be around 14MB, probably less, but some of the best maps are larger in scope and file size (Drakir’s maps for instance, Riverstyx’s Den of Lions, etc). The ET version of Normandy Breakout that you did was also around 16 MB and two other popular and great maps Stalingrad and Marketgarden, clocked in at 18.6MB and 39.5 MB respectively.
I don’t think size is really an issue, if it’s junk, it’s junk, regardless of how small or large the file is. Interactivity and a large playing field is a plus.
Concerning the two versions, well we would like to allow Germans to play it if they want to, but we’re not going to steer clear of making it historically accurate with various banners and symbols used by the Germans. This is a World War II game after all, so two versions will be released: one with swastikas and one without.
Thanks for your input, keep it coming.
The Beta 2 version is on www.etmaps.de
You can find it here:

After playing it, feel free to give some feedback and any ideas or suggestions of what you would like to see added. We would appreciate it. Work on the third Beta is underway.
