Again the “Phantom ruined the game” crap? You seriously deserved the spam abuse.
Katana was nerfed, stealth was nerfed, cooldown was nerfed, HP were nerfed, KEK and Crotzni were nerfed, and you STILL crying about Phantom?
Dropping popularity

Pre - Phantom, I loved your game and sung its praises across the internet.

yeah, but they didnt make him 3 inch shorter. so still things to whine about regarding phantom…
hmmm i see lots of crys about the phantom merc i think the real problem is people are afraid of what they can not see?
But you can totally see him if he isn’t moving slowly or still.
Still it’s way better than it was.
I think the message he is trying to get across is - Phantom’s release ruined the game for noobs (which was majority of the player base).
Let’s face it, phantom did cause a shit storm.
I think it’s probably it being to hard or the team balancing.
Personally I was greatly thrown off when they changed the WHOLE THEME of dirty bomb back in Pre-Alpha.
Dirty Bomb looked really cool back then. A serious, gritty, and dark military shooter, but I guess they wanted to make it more cartoonish and attract the kids.
FYI - It wasn’t only the Phantom, he was just the beginning of the reverse from a truly inspiring rise in popularity to a major downward slide in players. The developers jump all over on their character design - no bulletproof vests or helmets but orbital weapons and stealth. No continuity.
The extremely hostile core with their comments and spawn camping definitely drove away a lot of new players.
The mismatch of level 30+ (especially in teams) slaughtering the freshly promoted level 5+ also has driven away your player base (your future money).
Yes, the Admins and Moderators are some of the best at responding in the gaming business.
A Deep Bow to Miss Murder.
The reason I have not commented on the newer players is the few times I have tried to get on since, was game technical issues (not able to get in a game, log in, etc.)
I don’t have all day to play like some, (work, family, life), so I am selective of my time and money.
Best wishes for your future. Dirty Bomb was a blast when I did play it initially.
The “extremely hostile core” driving away new players is kind of ridiculous - have you never played online games before? Most people in games either don’t talk or don’t care from what I’ve seen. The “mismatch” in games you’re talking about: publics don’t have matchmaking. Again, not sure how you expect this to be different than every other game in which more experienced players will often be better than the new guys.
If you’re not having fun and want to stop, that’s fine. The need to spill melodrama on the forums to the rest of us, though?
Edit: Just to add. Why do people feel the need to declare they are “quitting the game!” - it’s free. You paid nadda. You have no subscription cost. You can come back at any time. It’s not like you’re under contract to play the damn thing.
I don’t think the number of players will increase just by removing the “beta” from the game title. Actually, I don’t know what SD can do… The community can’t stick during 4 months around if there are only 5 maps. And I’m afraid it’s too late now.
Yeah, when you do a beta launch and then a regular “launch” unless you have something significant to add with it, it’s pretty much ignored. Imo they just need to keep going - if the core of the game, the fundamentals of how it works, the pace of it etc. are good enough the game might get more people in. Having more maps isn’t exactly a golden fix, people who would get bored with just 5 maps will still get bored with 10 even if it takes a little longer.
I still think the game is doing fine, I just hope some of the things they’re working on (not just Execution and Dome + the remaining mercs) come soon. And puh-lease, I want. more. cosmetics.

i must agree with is part u said it really hurts me an makes me feel like i suck really bad when im matched not just against level 30+ players but i was matched with levels 57 an a 64 2 guys ran the whole game i can only imagine how long it took for them to get them levels i got 25 hours in game an im only level 6 lol
It was very popular at the beginning (I was not expecting so many people), but there’s a real problem now. You can see it when you compare DB with a another “beta” game launched approximatively at the same time:
