I run Phoenix, Aimee, another merc depending on missions, mood, and map. I often run Vassili if I don’t know if I’m on defense
Do you pick up the trash?
I usually run what I want unless I have a mission for a specific merc…I play all classes so usually that includes a medic and or a engineer…just to be safe…I do want to try and win.
I always feel like i am forced in these types of games to play as a waiter, would you like some ammo sir/maam? here you go, oh you need health? well i have just the ticket, eat this magical box…now is that better… very well sir/maam. Oh your car broke down? let me fix that for you.
Can be quite tedious on times, and the games where i say **** it and pick the classes I feel like playing always tends to leave me in situations with no ammo no health and no engineers on the team.
Its a good job I like being a team player for most of the time. And its a better job that I love kira, stoker, sparks, sawbonez, aura, proxy & bushwhacker.

I’m exactly the same, I feel like most of the time I venture to put faith in the team to get the important things done, be it stock with ammo, heal up or do the objectives I am reliably let down, so it always locks 1 if not 2 or even 3 of my merc choices.
The feedback on this so far is quite interesting, if you level out the poll around 40% of players are playing to the game and the team needs and 60% play to their strengths or don’t give a hoot. Is that healthy?

people will say a team of 8 vassili’s is a bad idea on chapel defence, but trust me, they will win.
its also in my mindset, i hate it when i get teammates that try to coach me, voicechatting about the obj, and wanting to be revved and shit. i know what to do, just let me do me and we will win. im the guy that just plays, i dont ask for support, but its nice when i get it.
NOTE: this is in pubs. never did pugs, but that is a totally different case.

If they are of a equally high level competence possibly but considering Vasilly is one of the first mercs that people buy I seriously doubt that a pub server team of Vasillys could win a game without serious coordination between them, which is equally unlikely even among good players. 8v8 servers skew the meta and are generally pretty mental, not really what you want to be handling as a sniper (it would do my head in for sure). If you put that against a solidly composed 8 man team (or even one with a half decent thunder, nader or a sniper) I would expect them to struggle. I’ve never seen a wall of Vasillys hold the first objective of Chapel for very long, and I’ve seen that happen more times than I’d like to.
Thankfully I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team of 8 snipers holding the first objective but then again I’ve never stood downrange on a golf course and I’m pretty thankful for that, I’m sure the two are roughly comparable experiences.

okay, 1st could be a hold, escorting may take a while, but the ev wont be disabled even once, but the 3rd objective will be hell for the attackers.
I don’t even care any more. If the retards plaguing this game won’t swap merc nor will I.
I still do kind of sacrifice a potential desire to play a certain char to play the needed but lacking class, usually an engy.
I usually have one engy in my roster, one gunman/frontliner possibly with fire support, and then either a medic or a recon. Then I balance my loadout to have both rifles and long-range options, but that also depends on the map…

Replace Arty with the Skybro, Medic squad and thats me.
I will give you health and ammo…want it or not.
Why would I worry about destroying the EV when they can’t even get close enough to repair it? Only the third objective matters the most and you can pretty much solo it with kira.
I don’t get it? What’s the difference between picking Arty to keep the EV from moving and having fun?
There ain’t no party like an Arty Party.
I usually always end up with 2 medics and whichever firesupport merc fits the map. Every time I try putting an assault merc in my squad and actually use them, to have a bit of fun, I always seem to run out of ammo and health, and then just switch back to keep people alive or topped up with ammo.

This is actually why my most played merc is Proxy. It’s not that I specifically enjoy playing Proxy over more versatile mercs like Fragger or Phoenix, it’s that whenever I don’t bring an engineer to a pub, we usually lose because nobody wanted to switch to engineer(and Proxy was my first purchased merc, so that too).
For the same reason I also bring a fire support and assault merc, and unless we desperately need an engineer, I play assault or fire support most of the time.
