DIRTY BOMB UPDATE: Version 22519 - August 8th 2013

(BomBaKlaK) #201
100, 110 before.
Game feels just slow, or has just slow movement acceleration (delay when starting to sprint).

Didn´t play for a longer time, since to me the game seems to get worse every patch…
last comment from new mates incoming in the game : “this game feel really slow.” using 110 or more FOV
I feel also like stuck in the mud syndrome

It’s not a cortex bomb or something like that, you actually drop a nade, so why wouldn’t it still go off after you get gibbed or revived?

(mazesc) #203

Okay I didn’t notice that a grenade is dropped. For some reason I thought the mechanics were different. Namely, that you charge martyrdom for a couple of seconds and it explodes at the end. More like an explosives vest. I just felt that it was unfair to the person who smartly gibbed me, to still die from the explosion and that it was unnecessary for it to still go off after having been revived (would have been even more fun with FF).

Gameplay :
as it is its feel very spammy too much things(abilities, molotov …) too often.
and games seem to go in the direction of too short & Attackers advantage
I know… Balancing on his way

If someone is playing the obj, cause actually this more like a TDM

(Seanza) #206

Any way to get Q back to being my special ability button? I find myself reaching for 4 an awful lot too as I’m forgetting there are no nades, would like to re-bind it (easily within the game).

Self-revive is a bit of a waste of time, at first I thought it was pretty cool. If you self-revive and then get revived by a teammate half way through, it should reset your self-revive meter, otherwise it’s a pain in the arse.

In the very short amount of time I’ve played in the new update, people seem to have forgotten about the objectives and the game just turns into a glorified spamfest. I would imagine this is the result of a “I don’t have to do the objective anymore because everybody can now do it” kind of attitude - an attitude that’s entirely detrimental to the gameplay.

Will continue to play more and provide feedback, but I really haven’t enjoyed a single second of the new update I’m sad to say, even the launcher is needless now.

(Hundopercent) #207

Is this confirmed? I wasn’t aware that’s how he worked. Even then, grouping up in the game right now is a negative. I would still like to test it with that mentality though.
Game is broken - all maps over in less than 10 minutes no matter how good the defense is. Can defend for 5 minutes one objective, then all team dies - the rest of map is a steam roll, with all classes planting and arming and repairing and escorting the formula1 ev. Frustrating for def, almost no chance to win.

All the rest of patch apart from grenades removed and red death screen is very good, nothing to say.
No definately not. Attack is as easy as defense. You can do obj just more often. If a whole team gets picked, sure it is easier for def or attack side.
I think the rev train of “footloose” or in general medics can be deadly. But thats how it goes, you win and loose. And at some point you have to pick the whole team or you will loose.

Since i have played, ivew got the feeling that most of the matches are even more close. The steamroll was pre patch more common IMO, and if you even got the whole team, you could still loose because there wasnt the right class to counter. In that case if a certain point had been reached, your actions didnt to anything to the outcome. Now you can always counter!

(rookie1) #209

I think it would feel more right if:
Snipers & Medics hadnt no c4 & and repairing pliers and disarming abilities , for the others guys its ok

Well there was one last hope for a good pc fps…SD you just took that and ruined it congrats. I didn’t thnk you could get any worse then the pile of garbage you called brink, but you just created a pile of feces and urine and named of dirty bomb. There is nothing left in of FPS development. This game has gone the way of every other of fps. Trash. I’ll stick with mmo’s once again. Hopefully Wildstar is out soon enough.

What a complete lie and waste of 120$ this game was. “A classic fps like W:ET”. Yeah right, this is a spamfest of tdm and garbage. Completely lied too. Should have never even once thought about removing the classes, instead fixed the real problems.

You just did this to siphon more money out of the game, but in the end no one is gonna play this heap of crap you have now created.

Now how to figure out how to get my falsely advertised money back. ET my ass. Pfft.

(Seanza) #211

Just read through this entire thread and the lack of positive comments towards the agnostic objectives is alarming. I don’t recall reading any positive comment on the removal of nades either, but worrying replies from SD staff make it seem like nades aren’t coming back at all?

I blame pulley for the removal of nades after he killed 4 of the SD guys with just 1 of them in that showmatch a few months ago… FU PULLEY!

(Ashog) #212

sad but true…

We ask for drastic changes and we get them. You follow up with this? Come on champ, lets put the big boy pants on today. If it doesn’t work out with some tweaks I’m sure they’ll revert or implement something else. Until then, give some feedback that they can work with.

(1-800-NOTHING) #214

occasionally having trouble seeing/identifying enemies with this new build.
several reasons:
(-800x600)
-teammate IFFs blocking view or hovering above enemy.
-maps more orange and white than before (eg. camden first objective)
-all models’ skin colour more orange, undermining the patches of orange on the clothes.
-enemy skins with lots of white can be hard to tell if gibbed or not.

(Bangtastic) #215

tbh DB’s combat isnt really focused on nades and thats good. I have rather good flashes, emp and smoke to proceed. Frags can be helpful, but if you consider map architecture your push with frag nades is most of the times pretty obvious -> most of time enemy isnt surprised.

The frag nade efficiency comes a lot from throwing it in narrow corridors. On one side ppl complain about agnostic elements, but on the other hand having Nades for specific chars/classes is a whole different story? Actually it is the agnostic obj element that causes the most drastic change.

So some are stating that engineer ONLY has to do specific task: defusing and repairing; where is the difference when I say assault has task F: Support team with nades.

I really like the agnostic objective style a lot! Emphasis on tactical nades;

In case of re-introducing nades for everyone, introduce frag nade proficiency

wasnt w:et a nadespam fest

(1-800-NOTHING) #216

well, it’s not exactly as if fragger is struggling offensively without the nade.
and i have yet to get a kill using pliers. (or a TEC kill, for that matter. not that i’ve tried very hard…)

i would like to try a build with grenades reserved for hardy, the engies and the recons, and see how that works.
I like that every class can do the objective now since this game is so fast-paced and the maps are kinda small. If only the engineer can for example repair the bridge you will end up with fullholds all the time since you will need to wipe the enemy team like 3-4 times in a row (which is really hard on small maps) so your engineer can actually repair the bridge.

Maybe give the engineer a faster repair bonus and soldier fasting planting bonus to give it something extra.
This is too true. DB is faster paced than all prev games in terms of constant engagements, which is why objs are so difficult to complete. These changes indeed solve that problem for most of the biggest past hold-up objs on maps, but the question is if it is the best way? All that happens now is objs are actually completed because someone can pickup where the other guy started, however the chaos is still there. People say it’s more TDM now than before, but I don’t see that. It’s about the same, and those who did objs before still are the only ones doing objs now. The TDM is from the lack of true spawn waves and the map layouts.

We need to test some extreme proficiency stuff asap also. If proficiencies exist already, they are not significant enough to be worth being there.

Things I think we need to try also;

1.True spawn waves and timers
2.More non-exposed objs
3.More forward spawns for offense and defense (that actually cause disadvantage *cough not waterloo)
4.Contestable map flow side-objs

(Nail) #218

what he said^

(Kl3ppy) #219

I have to say, the spec mode is really nice. The matches are really enjoyable. Good Job SD!
